After a very busy period here at Third Man headquarters, we are finally done shipping all the Lazaretto Vault packages. If you still have not received a tracking number for your package #20 (and signed up as a Platinum member before April 30), please let us know right away at vault@thirdmanrecords.com. Also, to reiterate from the last posting, we now will begin processing exchange and replacement requests that have been sent over the past few weeks. Although we usually accept exchange and replacement requests only up to 14 days after packages are received, we will allow for a longer grace period this quarter, lasting up through today for domestic members. We appreciate your patience very much and remind you to keep your eyes peeled for the next Vault package announcement shortly!
I too for the very first time have been hit with a customs charge of almost £20 for my Vault Package. I simply cannot afford subscribing any longer if I have to pay such a custom charge.
Germany : If you import goods from the US you have to pay nothing up to 22€ incl. postage. From 22€ up to 150€ you have to pay 19% VAT. From 150€ onwards you have to pay
VAT + customs. That´s always the case and independent from a subscription.
USPS have just informed me (through the delivery tracker) that I need to pay a charge to receive my package in the UK too, :-(
I’ve sent a message to sales@ to see what can be done.
I ‘ve just had my letter telling me that I need to pay £18.57 in Import VAT and Clearance Fee. It doesn’t make sense for me to keep subscribing if I’m going to be hit with the extra for each release. I’ve cancelled my subscription as #21 has already been charged and I want to see what happens when that comes through in 3 months time before I commit to further releases.

same issue in germany.. got no package, just a nice letter from the customs duty department as the value on the package now is 54$ (previous packages had always just a value between 10 and 20$) so i have to pay 19% import VAT…
i already had a similar issue 2 years before when TMR kindly helped me to solve it but this time they even dont react on my email… if i dont pick it up and pay the VAT within the next days package will be returned to sender… :(

I’m from the UK and have had the same message. I’ve been a member for a while and never had this before. Can it really be another £20? And why is this vault package different to all the others? I guess I need to ask the post office when I collect!
Looks like anyone from the UK has been hit. My status is also ‘at post office – will contact you sometime to tell you how much you have to pay before we’ll let you have your package’.
Wonder how much TMR put down as the value – it also (if I’m reading the HMRC website correctly) looks like they add in the shipping cost to work out the VAT.
Like many, if there’s going to be an additional £10-£20 for each Vault package, I’ll need to give it serious thought about continuing, which is a shame as most packages have been great.
I’m more puzzled by what’s different this time – I’ve not been a vault member for that long (last seven or eight packages I think) but never been hit with customs charges before.
I am in the UK and have the same issue – no letter and customs charge expected – from the comments I guess the value of the shipment has been added as the cost of the subscription on the export declaration which I feel is wrong as you get more than just the Vault release. But until I see the value quoted I can’t comment with any authority – as a result I will be more likely to cancel my subscrition for the occasional three months when the vault release doesn’t interest me – so they key is the quality of future releases – But why only is the UK affected?
So I am a bit fed up about it.
