Vault Package #20 Shipping Completed!

Hey there all,

After a very busy period here at Third Man headquarters, we are finally done shipping all the Lazaretto Vault packages. If you still have not received a tracking number for your package #20 (and signed up as a Platinum member before April 30), please let us know right away at vault@thirdmanrecords.com. Also, to reiterate from the last posting, we now will begin processing exchange and replacement requests that have been sent over the past few weeks. Although we usually accept exchange and replacement requests only up to 14 days after packages are received, we will allow for a longer grace period this quarter, lasting up through today for domestic members. We appreciate your patience very much and remind you to keep your eyes peeled for the next Vault package announcement shortly!

Have to say, I’m with everyone else on the discount code – shipping costs are so expensive to the UK anyway that I’ll never use it. I’ve paid my £18.57 to Parcelforce and am awaiting delivery on Monday, so fingers crossed it’s OK. A discount on no. 21 wouldn’t be of any interest to me either, as I’m not going to bother with that one. I’ve got enough versions of WS songs already, and I’m 45 years old so I have no interest in a cheap polyester flag! The DW single would be cool to have, but it’s not worth $80 so I’m keeping my wallet in my pocket next time.

With regards to the Customs charge that most people have had to fork out. I too received the 35% Coupon which incidentally has to be used within 3 months. Quite frankly I think its quite cheeky gesture by TMR. Great way of drumming up extra business on the back of an alleged clerical error…a more appropriate gesture would have been to offer a 35% discount from the next vault package.

I’m with you there, Andrew. I had to pay an extra 26.49€. And there was no 7-inch and no iTunes download code, which didn’t make me happy at all.
Like you, I appreciate the discount coupon gesture, but delivery expenses are SO insane I just won’t use it. As you say, it would have been much better to get the discount off package #21. I’ve already paid for it, by the way, so there’s no use saying this, I guess. I understand TMR isn’t happy with our “moaning,” but I’m not happy with what’s happened either. I believe TMR is committed to good service, so voicing our complaints can only help them learn from whatever’s gone awry this time. On the bright side, the LP is a mighty toy! I’m playing with it while I play it ;). Sounds great! The book is a really stinky cute little object. Dominic’s music transcripts are a delight to look at (I wish my “music handwriting” were as impeccable). The pics, the details, everything’s really beautiful.

Got home late from work tonight and I’ve finally got my letter from the post office – I have to pay £18.57 too – too late for it to be delivered tomorrow and if I want it delivered on Saturday I can pay an extra £12 for the privilege, or drive a 90 mile round trip to collect it. No chance, I’ll wait ‘til next week (after all I’ve waited this long ,what’s another four days).
Considering it left TMR on 26 June, that’ll be 14 July. I know TMR have no control over how long delivery takes but we pay a fair bit for shipping. They need to be asking USPS to refund some of the cost for being so slow – it took 6 days just to get to Miami (maybe Ben took it by scooter).
Whilst I appreciate that they’ve identified where they messed up and the gesture of discount off another order, and I know they’re not responsible for customs charges – the fact that the discount excludes vault subscription sucks – it would have been far better to give 35% discount off the next vault package. Not sure I want to spend more on getting stuff sent over. Vault 20 has ended up costing over $110 dollars (not including the credit card currency conversion fee) for an LP, a single and a book – the most expensive LP I’ve ever bought (it’s geting almost as much as my Ryan Adams Live After Death vinyl boxset cost).
I’d have to spend over £50 just to get the equivalent of the extra charge back – which with shipping charges would end up incurring more customs charges, so it’s a no win situation however you look at it. A lot of the TMR releases are available from retailers over here anyway (my local indie store is where I’ve bought almost all my TMR singles) which makes it pointless, unless we get a chance at some exclusive stuff such as tricolours or very limited edition stuff (eg the Lazaretto RSD single or the blue High Ball single) which are almost never available here- must be something in the pipeline.
I know I shouldn’t moan and it was definitely US vaulters turn to get their stuff first, but the album has been out for weeks and I still haven’t got my copy, so I just needed to sound off.
Now hoping that when it finally arrives it’s in perfect condition or I’ll be even more pissed off.

I’ve heard nothing and there’s no info on the tracking no either. This is my first vault package and I’m deeply unimpressed. A discount on an order is just a mickey take, I don’t want to spend even more money just to get a discount.
Having said that, Jack was awesome at Glastonbury so I do actually forgive him :-)

They’re being held in your local Parcel force depot if you call them you can pay the customs tax but you will need the reference number from the letter i think.

Andrew Egan

What time did you guys get your email? I can’t access my emails and the last time I was able to was 17:30 today, I’ve had it here in the UK too, do you know if they are being kept at the local post office to us?

Paul Bryan

Exactly the same with me, i appreciate that a lot of international subscribers have been affected but the least they could do is reply to our emails. I paid the £18.57 today and my Vault package #20 is being delivered tomorrow, just had confirmation from Parcelforce. As much as i appreciate the 35% discount i would prefer to get a refund to cover the customs charges.

On a different note Vault package #21 looks awesome!!!

Don Robertson

I would have preferred either a) waving the shipping & handling costs of #21 or b) a store credit. Although I don’t doubt there will be something released in the next three months I’ll want to buy. Ultimately, it looks like we’re just going to have to take the hit on this one.

Fergus C.

I hope they still reply to my e-mail after they issued the discount code e-mail, I would like an answer to my questions. I don’t think the discount is particularly effective compensation.
