The Raconteurs
“(embargoed from sharing the title)” one-sided single
scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.
Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!
You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?
Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.
You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?
People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.
I was luckily enough to see the Raconteurs years ago, but my brother had not had the chance. So my favorite third man memory is getting to go with him to the 10th anniversary show, because he had thought he would never have a chance to. Then, It all culminated into la la la la, la la la la, which was absolutely mind blowing.
Easily the Racs Blue Room performance this last Monday. Unbelievable experience that I will never forget!!
Well TMRx10 Allowed me to see Todd Albright,The Soledads,The Dirtbombs,The Gories, & Rac’s(with a GO/Keep on the trash encore for the icing on the cake) in the same day, so that’s pretty hard to top. Buuuuuuuuut I’d have to say my best TMR moment would have to be the Mummies (not to mention Oblivians & CBB) playing the opening of the pressing plant Detroit. In talking to them at their merch booth before the show, they said they had never played Detroit (or Michigan at all if i’m remembering right). TMR has had a boat load of pretty awesome events like this that i have been lucky enough to attend, but knowing that it was a band that had never been in Detroit before and probably never will again made it a pretty special show. They also kicked a$$. Disclaimer those guys are also some pretty big smart a$$es so if any of that information is incorrect i can’t be held accountable.
@Zoso – thank you for sharing! Sounds like an amazing time. I can’t wait to hear the new stuff.
Hands down favorite TMR moment was the Bizarro pop up in LA. Seeing the dead weather live for the first time was incredible but then to see Jack and LJ perform in the bizarro shop was unreal.
My favorite Third Man moment was when my wife and were in Nashville last year and we were able to go on a private inside look tour of the Nashville facility, facilitated by someone that will not be named here. We got to see how everything is put together, from Recording, Marketing, Shipping, even to new products that were at the time on the horizon. What an experience, a true one-of-kind type of day.
My first Vault . On receiving my first package (Vault Package # 37 White Jack Live in Nashville / Live in Detroit) I was really excited. I got my three-band pack.
I opened it gently and I inserted each of the discs in their respective pocket. I put everything in the main pocket.
… I admired the work … then I put the first record … and oh! its good!
DIRTBOMBS. I never had a chance to see these old school Detroit bands. TMR10 afforded that opportunity, and The Dirtbombs stoke the show. So incredible especially with the heat. I feel very fortunate. I was even lucky enough, or annoying enough to get the band to sign Consistency is the Enemy for me. Hope to see them again!
OK scratch my earlier, things have changed. Best thing ever; the 4-9-19 Raconteurs Blue Room show. I got there early (much to the amusement of quite a few people) but I got to be right in front of LJ and JW. The sound in there is always great, but this show killed ‘em all! I got JW sweat slung on me during the Blue Veins solo. LJ smiling and waving a few times, and got high fives from LJ, PK and BB. The new album is SO great guys, it has a hard classic vibe. And was executed as if it’d been played for 10 years, not a few months. (Already thinking this one’ll be in my all-time top 10 list). ANyway, THANKS for being you TMR, thanks for the Blue room opportunities, everything! The random excitement you provide far outshines anything this touristy boot-bar town has ever offered up. Other people have mentioned it a lot here too; it’s the sense of community that makes TMR so special. A great formula you have TMR, looking forward to the next 10!
The TMR anniversary show. Yes, the music was amazing and the Raconteurs blew my mind, but what really stood out for me was the lack of pretentiousness by the artists. They did not hide away until their performance, but were willing to mingle with us “common folk.” Whether it was Blackwell, Swank, Albright, Keeler, etc., they were all gracious with their time to give a handshake, take a photo or just discuss music. It’s memories like this that make TMR more than a record store. It’s a community. It’s why I stop in whenever I’m in Nashville or Detroit – you’re not just pushing a product, you’re sharing your love for the music. It’s why none of our turntables are dead.
