The Raconteurs
“(embargoed from sharing the title)” one-sided single
scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.
Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!
You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?
Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.
You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?
People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.
it would have to be the announcement of new a Raconteurs album after waiting a decade!
I have been driving down to TMR Nashville from Canada since 2010 for Record Store Day every year. I have been a Neil Young and Jack White fan for much longer than that. Without a doubt, my favourite TMR memory is the year that the recording booth was debuted. Not only was I able to record a Neil Young cover in the booth, but Neil Young showed up himself and recorded in front of us all, which turned into the A Letter Home album. My two favourite artists working together to create music. That is my favourite TMR moment.
Thank you TMR for everything you have done for us fans over the years. Looking forward to many more…
My favorite moment was getting to attend the Dead Weather listening party in the Blue Room back in 2015! Such an awesome experience!
@Alexis – I’m teaching my nephews to play instruments, too! “Our” song is “I Think I Smell a Rat.” The boys heard it in my car and were instantly drawn to it. Nephews are the best. I hope I find occasion to take my guys to Jack’s House someday, too. ? All of these posts are filling my heart! Thank you for sharing your moments, everyone!
My 7 year old nephew’s face when Jack came onstage at the Bridgestone arena in November. And his excitement afterwards when he declared he wanted to play drums like Carla. Then, he asked, “Are we going to Jack’s house?” and we said yes – because Third Man Records is Jack’s home after all! My sister and I told him if he practiced, we could make a record in Jack’s booth. He practiced ‘We Are Going to Be Friends’ all morning and then all three of us crammed into the booth to record (he said he was too nervous to do it alone) in the afternoon. He was thrilled to record ‘Just like Jack’ and got a boost of confidence when he got the record in his hands. It was a joy to make Third Man a family affair and share the love of music with my Third Man obsessed nephew. (His favorite song is "Same Boy You’ve Always Known’, but the live version from La Blogotheque).
@stl_ben on one hand it’s funny cause the price is way too high, but on the other hand the price isn’t high enough to be too funny. The messed up part is that you’re setting up a price point. People will see a copy for sale on ebay for $700 and they’ll think, “well this must be a pretty good deal, cause it’s going for more than double that on discogs” This will also cause ebay flippers to raise their prices.
@jeffvoltage can it both a joke and I still be messed up?
Jack White cramming his piano against the Voice-o-Graph to record “I Wonder If I Care as Much” with Neil Young during the “A Letter Home” sessions. Or maybe Jack and Willie Nelson performing Red Headed Stranger. Cool, humorous, bringing fun into the music moments.
My favorite moments from this year are having actually travelled to Nashville and seeing Third Man Records and getting tickets to take the tour. It has been on my bucket list for a while. We were in Nashville for 7 days and went to Third Man at least 3 times. I also became a Vault member this month which is something I have wanted to do for a while. My future bucket list involves getting my son to Third Man as well. He will be seeing the Raconteurs in Seattle in July. He is becoming a 15 year old version of Jack, playing multiple instruments and learning everything White Stripes, Dead Weather, etc…Thanks to Jack and Third Man for inspiring creativity in young and old alike. Cheers.
there’s also a bunch on ebay already, not quit as high as $1500. i’ll have to wait until someone’s mom give’s them away at goodwill by mistake….
