scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.
Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!
You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?
Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.
You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?
People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.
Making it to the Detroit Store/Record Pressing Plant Grand Opening in time (driving from Chicago), snatching a SET of the Exclusive goodies, seeing The Oblivians and Mummies live, but more than anything, meeting my longtime hero Chet Weise. YES, I’m worthy!
Haven’t made it to Nashville too many times, but my favorite Third Man moment was going to see Iron & Wine in the Blue Room while a hurricane was passing through.
Being part of a wall of sound where every person is screaming lyrics at the top of their lungs. It’s more than watching a JW show, it’s getting to be part of the collective experience. I’ve never been to any other shows like his.
My favorite moment at Third Man was when I got the opportunity to actually visit the Nashville storefront last May (2018). Just being there was electric. I felt like one of the cool kids, flashing my challenge coin and discussing some great new music with the staff. The amount of energy in the air was something I’ll never forget. I got the chance to flip through the stacks of records and even came across some truly limited and incredible finds. Thanks TMR for 10 amazing years and for curating some amazing content!
Jamming out to Consolers of the Lonely with the best friends when cruising around Memphis during the summer of 2010. That album has been the soundtrack of great summer times ever since. Can’t wait to add more great times with their new album
when I Proposed to my fiancé in the record recording booth!
My favorite Third Man Moment would have to be an accumulation of little moments. The people who are Third Man Records are always so kind and helpful. From giving me recommendations when I visited Nashville last month to taking a picture with me at the store (thank you Angelina!). Being kind to customers/fans and going out of their way to make them feel special, always wins in my book. Thank you a million times ?
Going to the Vescovo “clinic” for the secret show in London. Hands down the weirdest thing I’ve ever been part of! So glad my “medical test” was only a breathing exercise…
Has to be the Flexi Disc Balloon Launch for the Freedom At 21. Coolest record release idea in the 10 years so far. I mean, Icarus was pretty sweet too obviously, but the fact that people might be finding these in the woods for years to come is so fucking rad. Fun way to spread the love, can’t wait to see what wild ideas you come up with in the next 10 years!
