The Raconteurs
“(embargoed from sharing the title)” one-sided single
scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.
Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!
You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?
Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.
You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?
People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.
I was in the Third Man Record store in Detroit the day after Christmas a couple of years ago with my girlfriend’s son because we had to return something down the street, but anytime we are close he wants to go in and flip through the records. The place was packed and since we lived close by I thought of just coming back another day when it was less crowded when I looked up and saw Jack effing White hanging out on the second level.
I wasn’t sure it was him because nobody was making a big deal of it and it didn’t look like anybody else even noticed, but then I saw him discreetly wave a kid up the stairs to sign something and knew it had to be him. He clearly didn’t want to call attention to himself so I quietly pointed him out to my girlfriend’s son to see if he would want to get something signed, but he was too shy so he just gave him a little wave and Jack gave him a nod. I was blown away but just how damn cool he was and how lucky we were to have that small moment with such a monumental talent. Thanks Jack!
My favorite is probably seeing Jack do his first show from the Blue Room for the Boarding House Reach tour. He played like a man possessed!!! I enjoyed his indie/melodic streak but this last tour and that first show sounded so DIRTY AND FUNKY that it was incredible. The keys and the way the drums/bass were so locked in was great but then Jack played like the Jimmy Page rock god he is in a very raw and expressive way throughout the night doing things my friends and I (that also play guitar for fun) were in awe of and still talk about to this day. I have no clue what I saw but it was the most intense Blue Room experience I’ve had and I’ve seen Mudhoney, Melvins, Death From Above, Franz Ferdinand and Sleep in the Blue Room (LUCKY AF to see all of those bands and Chris Rock and Jack Johnson among many others)…THANKS AND HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT NEXT 10 YEARS!!!
My favorite moment just happened. I have been a Vault member since day one and have never had a Third Man show never my home. I was finally able to use my Vault Status to get in on the Rac’s pre order for Columbia, SC. Got Floor tix and I am fucking pumped!!!!!!!
my favorite moment has been the release of the bumblebuzz. It has brought me so much joy playing it with friends or just messing around on my own. It’s just such a cool sound and it’s so responsive to your instrument’s volume/tone settings, so it ended up being much more versatile than I thought.
I took my little sister to her first concert EVER back in 2010. We saw Jenny & Johnny live at TMR. While everyone was waiting in line to get in, I walked my sister into the store to show her around. When we walked in, Jenny Lewis was getting what looked like her own “tour” of the store. I’m a huge Jenny Lewis fan, so at the time, I felt like I had to walk up to her and say something. But I wanted to be cool about it. So I said, “hey Jenny – I brought my sister here to see her first concert tonight.” She was very kind and told us to enjoy the show. To which I replied, “you too – good luck tonight!” She looked at my like I was a weirdo (like she really needs “luck”) and awkwardly goes, “thanks?”
I loved the B shows in 2012. Lucky enough to be front and center at the Denver show at a gas station on Colfax. Magical day.
First off….Thanks for the contest Ben!
OK favorite moment….
This is an easy one for me (since I’ve only been to Nashville twice)
It was the weekend of the World’s Fastest Record (April 2014)
My girlfriend and I walked in, saying hi to our friends looking around and I say to her
“Let’s get our picture taken in the photo booth” Little did she know that I had a ring in my pocket
and I was gonna propose to her. We get in the booth and i’m like ok how am I gonna do this with little wiggle room.
So the timer is going off and it takes the first picture! I drop down to one knee and ask her to marry me……….
2nd picture goes off capturing all of this magic! SHE SAID YES!
This is my favorite moment and will engraved into my head for the rest of my life!
Thank you TMR!
This is extremely hard. And I feel extra pressure because I do not own ONE, yes that was o-n-e test pressing of anything.
So this is extremely difficult to isolate one single highlight. The Grand Opening of Third Man Records, Cass Corridor is like a default. The full circle of it all, Jack accomplishing opening the store, the state of the city at the time and what if went through a few years prior was ground breaking on so many levels. To be there, to be a part of it, to witness Jack live it is something I will forever be grateful to be a part of it. I waited hours and hours until I froze solid outside. It was worth every second.
I can’t leave out the Grand Opening of the Pressing Plant. Again, the full circle of it all is a bit surreal. Being in attendance, Detroit as my hometown, going to shows at the Gold Dollar. I can truly appreciate it. It’s awesome to see it all unfold. As a massive TWS, JW and TMR fan to witness Jack enjoy and celebrate these amazing accomplishments is something I will cherish forever ❤️ ??
Favorite Third Man moment was the initial announcement of the Vault… Hello, Suckers… I still remember, although didn’t sign up until #3.
My favorite moment was seeing Jack in SLC last year where I actually go to meet you Mr. Blackwell :) I was the only one to recognize you, no chance I wasn’t going to say hello!
