The Raconteurs
“(embargoed from sharing the title)” one-sided single
scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.
Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!
You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?
Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.
You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?
People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.
Ben, my favorite Third Man moment was August 4, 2015 at 11:58 AM when I got out of the cab at Third Man Nashville and walking towards me was Jack. I said “dude, Jack” and was totally dumbstruck as he stopped to talk and took a picture with me (Third Man building and tower in the background). And speaking of test pressings, QUESTION: At the 10th Anniversary party I received in my Ultra Ticket goodie bag a United (453 Chestnut St address on the label) Test Pressing with the words “BLUNDERBUSS SQUARED” written on the side A label. Hoping you can tell me (doug.farber@singleofficestop.com) what “squared” means. I have not yet listened to the test pressing. Thanks!
I sincerely enjoyed the outrage when Trout Mask Replica was announced as Vault 36.
My favorite moment was when my first trip to TMR Nashville was all messed up and I had to reschedule to a random weekday. I was totally disappointed because I had a long stay planned and instead ended up with a hour to spend there. I guess things work out for a reason. While waiting to get out and go in I was checking out a sweet Tesla in the parking lot. It was the first time I had seen one sitting still parked and so I did a quick walk around and headed in the store. As many of you know the store is awesome and I was buying up tons of stuff, taking pics, etc. Finally it was time to head out and when I was getting ready to pull out I noticed that the Tesla owner was leaving as well. I had No Idea it was Jack’s car. Starstruck as I was all I could do is barley raise my hand to wave! Jack did wave back and mins later I was still sitting there, car in reverse, pondering on what I just witnessed. Lol. What started as a screwed up trip turned out to be well timed and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. So Thanks Jack for the wave and Thanks TMR for everything you do! 10th Anniversary was fantastic and can’t wait to see everyone again!
Maybe it’s because I am still high on the show last night or the ringing in my ears but …Holy s#$% The Raconteurs show last night was the best moment(s) eva! I am so excited for the new album!!! ♾
I’ve loved what ya’ll have been doing since day 1 (give it take a few months). Sending anonymous spooky doughnuts on your first Halloween was fun. Getting to know a new Sub Pop fan has been the best part. Experiencing the LA Bizarro pop up was one of the coolest record related events I’ve ever seen. I should have snagged that Bizarro Horehound when Swank was occupied. ;). Keep up the good work and congrats on everything.
Favorite moment was when you guys launched a record into the atmosphere. It is everything I love about TMR. It blended science, vinyl technology, and a love for all things music. It was also insanely cool. Third Man Records IN SPAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCEEEE!
10 years ago, a small group of vault members had an unofficial gathering to celebrate all things thirdman…the shop had just opened and the floods had barely subsided but we made it to Nashville from all parts of this and other countries…there were shows at the basement and a tour of URP but my favorite moment was standing in line at TMR for an exclusive sale they had set up for us when up walks Jack and says hello to everyone on his way in to work…that always stuck with me…a hardworking guy that didn’t forget about the people that got him there

Had to be the World Record Record! You all took great care of everybody handing out water and food while we waited.
So many… getting to record on the Blue Room stage was killer. World’s Fastest Record… “so glad you could join us for breakfast”. Getting my Vault 5 signed by the Dead Weather at the Dodge and Burn release party in NYC is way up there… But helping Swank fix his bass drum pedal mid-set at the Ultras S/C show at SXSW 2014 is probably my most direct (non-financial!) contribution to the cause, so I’ll go with that ;)
I have never been lucky to see them live. I did see Jack live in Milwaukee at the Rave show where he came back and did a 2nd encore after we sang Seven Nation Army and they had already broken down half the stage set. His comment of " Aren’t enough bars in Milwaukee" killed me. It will always be one of my favorite concerts ever just for that.
