During a quick break in Vault assembling, we came across an article from December 2015 that slipped past us. It's a ranked list of every Vault package up to #25:
"If you enjoy vinyl, then at some point you have probably seen some of the forward progression that Jack White and Third Man Records have done over the last several years to help propel the resurgence of wax in everyone’s home.
The vault subscription service was launched in 2009 and is definitely part of that movement. Once a quarter, platinum subscribers receive a package in the mail that contains a Vault LP, a Vault 7″, and a Vault Novelty. The Novelty varies from quarter to quarter and has included t-shirts, posters, concert DVDs, and many more unique items.
Given that we enjoy both White and vinyl, TFN thought it was a great idea to take a look at the last 25 offerings and rank them. So without any more discussion we present the Third Man Records Vault Packages – Ranked!"
We now know what The Fire Note thinks about past packages, so the question is: what are your top Vaults?
Bonnaroo, strictly for the tribute to Ikey. I was fortunate enough to see him play twice, once with Jack and once with The Mars Volta. He made both shows for me.
Any package that comes with live performance. I’m obsessed with live shows so when a new one pops up in a Vault Package that’s when I get the most excited.
Its hard to compare a package you got eith one you didnt get but these soft touch vinyl covers are the best and getting books and posters and limited edition images make it all worthwhile!!! I still think the ‘vinyl magic’ on the ultra and the world release edition that no one else could pick up at the store stole the cake prize with £azaretto!!!
Bonnaroo and Amazonian Lights were the best bang for the buck for sure! They raised the bar on those.
PS I don’t know which package it is, but the dvd of The White Stripes playing at the school to the school children is spectacular and very high on my favorites list!!!!
My first was twenty (bit of newby compared to some of the folks on here!), it arrived in the post the same day I saw Jack at the Hammersmith Apollo in London summer 2014 :)
Thought the bonaroo and amazonian lights packages were excellent
I’ve been a member since day 1 so of course!, :) the first package is the best for me. I remember where I was when I got it, how I felt opening and all in between. lol Amazing package. After that, my most prized possession is the WS tri colored Party… from # 7. Love. :) I absolutely love # 4 the B shows from UGWNL. #19 is way up on my list of adoration (TWS Elephant four 7" singles). I remember that point when discovering a band that you absolutely have to have EVERYTHING the band has EVER done. :) I remember hunting those singles down and buying them. So to have them on vinyl in a gorgeous box was special to me. :) I adore the pictures books from # 16 and # 14!!! I love the Laz Ultra LP with all it’s specialties from # 20. Of course Willie Nelson (#21) and Loretta (#24) are an incredible nod to them as there should be. Love that you guys did that. Love #5 (TDW at TMR) and of course #8 (last WS show). The 7 inch for #8 is incredible. And have to say I love the playing cards (#25), the picture disc (#6), all the t-shirts and the tote from #13. I know my answer is way too long, but it comes from love. lol :) :) THANK YOU for these packages TMR! It was nice to reminisce on what you’ve created in our lives! :) Cheers to you guys!
Great list. #8, #2, #4 .. #23 #16 #5 #13
