During a quick break in Vault assembling, we came across an article from December 2015 that slipped past us. It's a ranked list of every Vault package up to #25:
"If you enjoy vinyl, then at some point you have probably seen some of the forward progression that Jack White and Third Man Records have done over the last several years to help propel the resurgence of wax in everyone’s home.
The vault subscription service was launched in 2009 and is definitely part of that movement. Once a quarter, platinum subscribers receive a package in the mail that contains a Vault LP, a Vault 7″, and a Vault Novelty. The Novelty varies from quarter to quarter and has included t-shirts, posters, concert DVDs, and many more unique items.
Given that we enjoy both White and vinyl, TFN thought it was a great idea to take a look at the last 25 offerings and rank them. So without any more discussion we present the Third Man Records Vault Packages – Ranked!"
We now know what The Fire Note thinks about past packages, so the question is: what are your top Vaults?
Wow this is hard to judge… I love the rare versions of old Detroit cuts like Two Star Tabernacle… Love the little things like the white strips postcards … The super awesome packaging! Thanks for all of it. So much fun.
I have them all and Bonnaroo is my favorite, Live In Mississippi is a close second.
Yeah, Bonnaroo is amazing.
Bonnaroo is the best I’ve got.
Bonnaroo
I don’t know that I would rank it #1 but the one I listen to the most is the Willie Nelson & Friends LP.
Tough question! I would say the 1st time is always the best and unforgettable….so I would answer Vault Package 18 with the DVD of the Raconteurs at the Ryman.
And my top package is definitely Bonnaroo!!!! I love Amazonian Lights too. The decked out boxed sets are just really special.
I did this via a poll on the Third Man Records Collector’s group on Facebook, but mine wasn’t as slickly produced, nor, well, you know, published. As Kurt Vonnegut would say in Cat’s Cradle, “So be it…”
Vault Package 13 was my first package and I think it was my favorite cause I didn’t know what really to expect so it was really exciting and cool. And I love the tote bag I actually use it. A bunch of the packages are really nice just to look at and the color vinyl are like works of art. I hate to say it but some vault package albums just don’t sound as nice as the look. ( sound quality:( )
