RECORD STORE DAY AT THIRD MAN RECORDS: JACK WHITE & THIRD MAN RECORDS PRESENT…

T H E W O R L D ’ S F A S T E S T R E L E A S E D R E C O R D

LIMITED EDITION “LAZARETTO” SINGLE TO BE RECORDED LIVE, PRESSED & RELEASED APRIL 19 FOR RECORD STORE DAY

On April 19th, Record Store Day, Third Man Records will present Jack White recording the World’s Fastest Released Record, studio-to-store, in the history of mankind.

You heard correctly. First thing in the morning, Jack White will take the stage in Third Man's blue room and record direct-to-acetate what will serve as the limited edition version of his next single, a live rendition of the title track from his upcoming LP Lazaretto. The masters will be rushed over to United Record Pressing who will immediately begin pressing 45s. The sleeves will be printed from pictures taken at the show. The finished records will be whisked back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans. All in the same day. All in a matter of mere hours. As long as there are fans in line waiting to buy the single, United will continue to press and deliver them to Third Man to sell. Even if it takes all day.

In addition, Whirlwind Heat will appear at Third Man to play their first live show since 2006 (and likely their last ever), as their TMR classic Do Rabbits Wonder? LP is reissued on a variety of colored vinyl for Record Store Day.

Plus a great selection of local vendors will be on hand to keep everyone well-fed and refreshed… and there will, as always, be some surprises.

Tickets for this whole day —“Ultra Tickets” — are extremely limited and will be available exclusively through The Third Man Records Vault to Platinum Members. Ultra Ticket holders will get to watch Jack White live recording his World’s Fastest Record, Whirlwind Heat’s afternoon performance, and will receive copies of both The World’s Fastest Record 7” and the Whirlwind Heat Record Store Day LP release — all without having to wait in line! Vault Platinum members who are ticket holders need only show up, see Jack White play, hang out for a bit and eat, watch Whirlwind Heat (last show EVER??) and then, as they leave, pick up their bag with both RSD releases. No lines. No stress.

For those who can’t score tickets, The World’s Fastest Record will be made available for sale from the front of Third Man Records as soon as copies are pressed. Anybody who shows up that day during business hours wanting to purchase a copy will get one. Third Man promises to deliver until all customers are satisfied (one per customer, obviously!). The World’s Fastest Record will only be available at Third Man Records on Record Store Day. One time only!

Ultra Tickets for Record Store Day will be available via The Vault Pre-Sale ticket store at 3pm CT today, Thursday, April 3rd. JUST A GOLD SUBSCRIBER? SIGN UP FOR A PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP HERE.

@knoxvle it said live show when I bought my tickets. But I could care less if its 5 or 50 songs (sure I would prefer 50 thought). $100 for jack playing one song and to not have to wait in line over night for releases….worth it!

CINCI

PS: James Pugh I am glad you appreciate the info. Also, it is amazing that anyone would pay $750 for a ticket to this show. That person is most likely planning on selling the items he or she collects on eBay to pay for that high priced ticket and even make a profit = the desperados in this world…jeez! I suspect Jack White is performing a short concert so there is plenty of time to get the recording over to URP to make the 45’s. There sure is going to be a lot of pressure on the TMR and URP staffs on Record Store Day 2014 to make this all happen.

James Pugh, You can head on over to Grimey’s at anytime. The shows will be held outside in the open back lot. As you approach the open back lot you can start seeing the crowds, the set up and hear the music if it has already started. I don’t remember there being any lines to enter the back lot…just walked up into the crowd to join the fun. Check for all the details at http://grimeys.com . Shows start early in the day and go all day long. So if you have a ticket to see Jack White at 10:00 AM you can do that and then head on over to Grimey’s for a bit and then head back to TMR for the Whirlwind Heat show at 2:00PM. Once you collect up your RSD exclusives you can head back to Grimey’s for more “live” music outside. I sure hope it is going to be a nice day for RSD 2014. Be sure to bring rain gear and an umbrella just in case it isn’t. / After all of the RSD activities there is going to be a great show at the Ryman Auditorium with TMR recording artists Chris Thile in the Nickel Creek band and opening for them is the Secret Sisters. The show is listed as “Sold Out” on the www.ryman.com web site right now but you might still be able to get tickets at the box office the day of the show….be worth a try. Love the Nickel Creek band…discovered them way back in 1999 when all 3 members were teenagers and knew right away the band was headed for great success. If I couldn’t get into the Nickel Creek show I would head on over to the Station Inn for a great Bluegrass band playing there on April 19th or I might head on down to the Listening Room Café and catch some songwriters performing.

I’m in the any song beyond Lazaretto is a bonus boat. I just made a funny.

I’m happy with a short concert. Been wanting to see Jack in the Blue Room for years now without avail. Was expecting just the single at first. Now I get to see a concert, however short? Hell yeah, man. Right on.

knoxvle

Before it didn’t say anything about a concert, now it says short concert and you’re all up in arms? Be thankful he’s performing additional music at all.
We all spent $100 on tickets BEFORE they even said “small concert”
So be happy!

dreamover

now that it says “short concert”, i’m more interested in the specifics since i’m spending a small fortune to make this trip happen.

STL_Ben

Hmm…now its a short concert.

OK, is anyone gonna fess us to being the person that PAID $750 for the eBay ticket.

These hints about other activities and stores are great (SHOUT OUT TO CINCI!!!) Any additional info would be cool.

CINCI or anyone else – any hints as to when the line starts forming at Grimey’s?

Plaiditude

I’ve already emailed them one scalper warning but thst eBay one is ridiculous! If you don’t know if you’re gonna be around for the show don’t buy the ticket!!!!!!
