RECORD STORE DAY AT THIRD MAN RECORDS: JACK WHITE & THIRD MAN RECORDS PRESENT…

T H E W O R L D ’ S F A S T E S T R E L E A S E D R E C O R D

LIMITED EDITION “LAZARETTO” SINGLE TO BE RECORDED LIVE, PRESSED & RELEASED APRIL 19 FOR RECORD STORE DAY

On April 19th, Record Store Day, Third Man Records will present Jack White recording the World’s Fastest Released Record, studio-to-store, in the history of mankind.

You heard correctly. First thing in the morning, Jack White will take the stage in Third Man's blue room and record direct-to-acetate what will serve as the limited edition version of his next single, a live rendition of the title track from his upcoming LP Lazaretto. The masters will be rushed over to United Record Pressing who will immediately begin pressing 45s. The sleeves will be printed from pictures taken at the show. The finished records will be whisked back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans. All in the same day. All in a matter of mere hours. As long as there are fans in line waiting to buy the single, United will continue to press and deliver them to Third Man to sell. Even if it takes all day.

In addition, Whirlwind Heat will appear at Third Man to play their first live show since 2006 (and likely their last ever), as their TMR classic Do Rabbits Wonder? LP is reissued on a variety of colored vinyl for Record Store Day.

Plus a great selection of local vendors will be on hand to keep everyone well-fed and refreshed… and there will, as always, be some surprises.

Tickets for this whole day —“Ultra Tickets” — are extremely limited and will be available exclusively through The Third Man Records Vault to Platinum Members. Ultra Ticket holders will get to watch Jack White live recording his World’s Fastest Record, Whirlwind Heat’s afternoon performance, and will receive copies of both The World’s Fastest Record 7” and the Whirlwind Heat Record Store Day LP release — all without having to wait in line! Vault Platinum members who are ticket holders need only show up, see Jack White play, hang out for a bit and eat, watch Whirlwind Heat (last show EVER??) and then, as they leave, pick up their bag with both RSD releases. No lines. No stress.

For those who can’t score tickets, The World’s Fastest Record will be made available for sale from the front of Third Man Records as soon as copies are pressed. Anybody who shows up that day during business hours wanting to purchase a copy will get one. Third Man promises to deliver until all customers are satisfied (one per customer, obviously!). The World’s Fastest Record will only be available at Third Man Records on Record Store Day. One time only!

Ultra Tickets for Record Store Day will be available via The Vault Pre-Sale ticket store at 3pm CT today, Thursday, April 3rd. JUST A GOLD SUBSCRIBER? SIGN UP FOR A PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP HERE.

ROJA

@Kali Durga: I thought he was talking about me! @Cant Relate: Could you please define the term? Now we’re 2 Kali, I also have a plane ticket. See you there in case we can be considered Real Fans =)

Kali Durga

@Cant Relate: “Hopefully some real fans got tickets for RSD because I only know of 1 that was able to.” Could you define the term ‘real fan’, please? I need to make sure before next week that I am one ‘cause if I’m not then I have a plane ticket to cancel. A lot of other folks might appreciate having that definition, too, just so we can all know where we stand. Actually, maybe it should be added to the Vault FAQ, just to be on the safe side.

ROJA

@CINCI: Thanks for the advice, I also think they won’t let me pick it up before, it is part of the Pre-sale policies. I’ll be there 1 hour ahead of the show. About the Blue Room’s Volume, remember Jack likes loud, the louder the better, so maybe that’s why they don’t do a thing about the volume issue =) That won’t be a problem.

Cant Relate

I’m still in denial that I don’t have a ticket to see Jackie in the blue room. I waited in line over 24 hour last year and was 4th in line hoping he was going to surprise us with a performance. I was a year too early. Hopefully some real fans got tickets for RSD because I only know of 1 that was able to.

CINCI

Quizze, I always got in line and got my WILL CALL ticket at the door. There was no need for me to show up the day before to ever get a ticket ahead of time. Have you done that? I thought they only handed out the WILL Call tickets at the door right before the show. I doubt they will let anyone pick up a WILL CALL ticket until they are right at the door and ready to enter the Blue Room for this show. It is too important for them.

CINCI

ROJA, You can not get WILL CAll tickets ahead of time. A line always forms before a show. I would just worry about getting there 1 hour early to get in line. Watch weather so you’ll know if you need warm coat and or rain gear. Since this is a precise start time and then they need to get the recording over to URP for manufacturing the 45’s, I wouldn’t get there any later than 1 hour ahead of show. Blue Room is standing room only so it won’t matter where you are in line. You can move around the room but not too easily = you will feel like a sardine in a can. The views are good throughout the room. Definitely being hearing protection since Blue Room volume can be ear damaging…keep bitching to TMR about this but they still have to learn about hearing protection!!! / Thanks for the compliment. I am sitting RSD out this year…crowds have been getting to me lately. There are always great folks to meet while in line to go to a Blue Room show. Be prepared to make new friends!

ROJA

@Quizze: I’ll arrive the day before, but I think I have to call TMR to check their business hours the day before, now I can still change my plane ticket. I really hope you can find that spare ticket you’re looking for.

Quizze

Oh yeah… if anyone does have a spare RSD for a loyal vaultie let me know

Quizze

Roja… I would get there the day before during store hours for your will call… serious business

ROJA

@CINCI: I knew you’d got the answer, best advices in town. Any advice for WILL CALL tickets? Do you know what time can we go ask for the tickets? I really hope to see you there, please tell me you’ll be around. @Terje and the other 190 lucky ones: See you there!
