BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK

BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK

The Raconteurs

“(embargoed from sharing the title)” one-sided single

scums stats: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW?

Hard to believe I’m even doing one this week, but the collectibility has me all keyed up. Multiple covers? Multiple paper colors? Only given out to Ultra Ticket purchasers? SIGN ME UP.

Everybody is gonna want one, so let me just pre-emptively tell you…I don’t have any to spare!

You wanna place bets on the high price these reach on Discogs? Will anyone be able to collect ALL four?

Good luck to those trying, as you will need it.

You know, this song originally wasn’t going to be on the album. But Swank and I had to explain to the band how DAMN GOOD it was. It makes multiple statements that need to be made. The performance is tight…who even knew Brendan could DO that?

People who won't play the game the hard way, let’s do easy. Let’s give away a test pressing for commenters. You’ve got a week to get it in there. Tell me your favorite Third Man moment of the past ten years. I may use discretion or I may just pick a comment at random, so everyone has a chance.

Favorite moment: getting tickets and to see two of three Jack White shows in London last summer. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about the atmosphere at Hammersmith with the crowd together with the band those nights.

this string of comments is quickly becoming my favorite TMR moment

There have been many great moments, but the favorite has to be meeting my future wife at Third Man on the 2011 Record Store Day while waiting in line to pick up the clear vinyl pressing of Karen Elson’s Vicious (with the peach rose petals pressed inside). Had one of us arrived even a minute or two earlier or later we would probably never have met! Sorry we didn’t invite y’all to the wedding, but we eloped in Denmark…

I was working a job in ann arbor and finished early by bribing my interns to wrap up and snuck out a day early to catch my flight in detroit but figured out a way to stop by the motown museum and third man cass corridor. i wandered in the shop and it happened to be the first day tours were going on in the pressing plant. the staff was so nice. they looked at me and asked “you’re here for the tour?” had no idea but you know i had to do it. i was so blown away by the “seeds” to make records and the process. it made my whole trip. the crew told me where to get good food and beers. that was a amazing time!

My favorite moment is running in to Vance Powell at Bonnaroo in 2014 during the Seasick Steve set. I geeked out and chatted with him for a while! He took out his phone and showed me him recording with Steve and John Paul Jones the day before. Such an awesome experience and I’ll never forget it.

Visiting the Detroit Third Man on it’s opening day was awesome. Saw the Gories take the stage for the first time. Literally EVERYONE who had ever been involved with Third Man was around having a great time, watching the bands play. The sense of community within TMR is absolutely great and it was fun to just be around a bunch of music-loving people.

My favorite third man moment is actually now. The artist spotlights #TMRx10 are so interesting. I’m learning about so many TMR bands that I didn’t know about. I love looking them up and reading about them/listening to them.

Well, I’m a Vault Member from South America, so I keep track the releases from far, far away. But I think three of the greatest moments was: Jack White’s World’s Fastest Record, “Freedom at 21” in a helium baloon and all the Blue Series.
For me, personally, was in 2018, when I bought the early tickets for Jack’s concert at L’Olympia, in Paris. So I told to my boss that I need vacation and flew away from Brazil only to see his formidable spectacle (and get to know France).

For me, it was when I received my first Vault package #13. Et voila! :-)

Hanging out all night in the “tent city” with my bffs for the liquid filled record!
