We Love You, Ikey

It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans.


Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects.

Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled.

We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.

UPDATE: The coroner has determined that Ikey Owens died from a heart attack the morning of October 14th at approximately 4 am. Ikey, born Isaiah Randolph Owens was a GRAMMY award winning artist best known for his work with Jack White, the Mars Volta, De Facto and Free Moral Agents, among others. He was a beloved member of the music community as well as his hometown of Long Beach, CA.

I was in the front row right in front of him at the Detroit/fox show and you could tell he loved what he did. So into his preforming. My thoughts and prayers to his family,friends,band mates and fans. It was a pleasure to see him live. Gods speed!

I was so absolutely stunned to read this earlier today. The loss of Ikey will leave an indelible hole. His signature style made such an impact on Jack’s solo albums, it’s going to be strange not having him at that keyboard. If it’s hitting us fans this hard, I can’t imagine what you all at Third Man who worked with him on a regular basis must be feeling right now. He had so much light. Thoughts & Prayers~
