Top Vault Package?

Top Vault Package?

During a quick break in Vault assembling, we came across an article from December 2015 that slipped past us. It's a ranked list of every Vault package up to #25:

"If you enjoy vinyl, then at some point you have probably seen some of the forward progression that Jack White and Third Man Records have done over the last several years to help propel the resurgence of wax in everyone’s home.

The vault subscription service was launched in 2009 and is definitely part of that movement. Once a quarter, platinum subscribers receive a package in the mail that contains a Vault LP, a Vault 7″, and a Vault Novelty. The Novelty varies from quarter to quarter and has included t-shirts, posters, concert DVDs, and many more unique items.

Given that we enjoy both White and vinyl, TFN thought it was a great idea to take a look at the last 25 offerings and rank them. So without any more discussion we present the Third Man Records Vault Packages – Ranked!"

We now know what The Fire Note thinks about past packages, so the question is: what are your top Vaults?

I agree with the consensus of 8, 13, 16, 22, 23, as a few of the best. However my favorite seems to change about every 3 months, currently my fav is 27. I havent even heard it but i check the vault 5 times a day to see if its shipped, needless to say, im excited! The first 5 i mentioned are awesome, but all the vault packages ive got are awesome, hits ridiculous to try to nail down “the best”. ….

Bonnaroo

9 Miles – the show is a blurry, sweaty, violent guitar induced trip. LOVE this album! They were in rare form and played off each other so so well.

Bonnaroo and Live in Brazil are my faves

Regarding the original article, why the vastly different reaction toward Lynn’s and Jackson’s packages? Both of these women are legends, with legendARY oeuvres, so why is Miss Loretta’s package deemed inferior to Miss Wanda’s? Both fit exactly the same criteria, with the exception of the latter being a live recording. I really don’t understand, and although I love both women, I’m sorry, Miss Jackson, I am for real— Lynn’s album was and is an instant classic that deserves every accolade and more. (Truly sorry for the poorly executed Outkast joke, but it was just sitting there, begging to be used…)

I was living strictly on an artist’s salary until ‘Under Amazonian Lights’, so, I’m not gonna front, I went back and copped Bonnaroo off EBay when I was dealing with surgical recovery. It was a personal get-well gift to myself, and worth every jacked-up penny. Those two, along with Loretta’s Vault, are MY favourites. However, I agree that unless you have them all, you can’t really know, sadly! I also really love and appreciate the true Vault-style releases of old WS shows, because those are slices of invaluable musical history. Great thread idea— I’ve really enjoyed reading the different opinions here, plus, it’s a good barometer to help measure what I need to get my hands on— specifically if someone wants to part with their Willie Vault, I’m your girl! :)
