If you've been to any of Jack's shows, you very likely saw him and the band play at least one cover song. This year has been an especially adventurous year for Jack's cover song repertoire, and we think it is worth taking note! What better way to document all the excitement than getting all the covers together in one place?!
In the comments section below, please list a cover that you have seen Jack play in 2014 in any of his venue or festival shows. As comments are left, we will be compiling a Spotify playlist, then post it for your enjoyment as the list comes to completion.
Here are a few songs to get you started:
Manic Depression - Jimi Hendrix
300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy - Howlin' Wolf

Ready? Steady? Shoot!
You Know That I Know is not a cover! Jack wrote the darned music for it, he CO-WROTE it! Gee whiz, people. Just because setlist.fm designates it as a cover doesn’t mean it is.
Forecastle
Blue Moon of Kentucky (Bill Monroe cover)
You Know That I Know (Hank Williams cover)
You Gotta Move (Mississippi Fred McDowell cover)
Excellent idea! What did he cover last night in Burnaby?
@ARLABAR: No, it wasn’t Women’s Prison, many of us would have recognized that song. It was a song that began about a man who “didn’t need to be forgiven”, then shifted to being about a woman who, also, didn’t need to be forgiven. One of the most beautiful moments I’ve experienced yet at one of Jack’s shows. Unfortunately, not enough of the lyrics stuck in my brain to be able to search for it and that seems to be the case with everyone I’ve talked to about it so far. Perhaps Third Man will help us out by slipping it into the playlist.
Was it possibly Women’s Prison by Loretta Lynn from Van Lear Rose. Jack played and produced her album and that is a beautifully haunting ballad he could do well.
@Fiona Adams—many of us are desperately trying to find out what that song was! It was so beautiful.
oh wow! that’s one epic playlist! thanks a million. I hope to hear more Elvis covers in November. Please please please keep on rocking.
Night 1 of Seattle shows, Jack sang a beautiful and haunting song about a woman in prison. I have no idea what it was and I am dying to find out. It was a stand out, great lyrics. Anyone know what I am referring to?
Lemon Song at Bonnaroo
Yes, @AmandaRae, I heard it too & listed it a couple of pages ago :-). I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard Jack sing the first lines! (You may know this, but it was written by the famous (40s-60’s)country musicians the Louvin Bros.and Roger McGuinn sang it on one of my old album favs, Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Would love to hear Jack cover that one. I dare him. :-D
