If you've been to any of Jack's shows, you very likely saw him and the band play at least one cover song. This year has been an especially adventurous year for Jack's cover song repertoire, and we think it is worth taking note! What better way to document all the excitement than getting all the covers together in one place?!
In the comments section below, please list a cover that you have seen Jack play in 2014 in any of his venue or festival shows. As comments are left, we will be compiling a Spotify playlist, then post it for your enjoyment as the list comes to completion.
Here are a few songs to get you started:
Manic Depression - Jimi Hendrix
300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy - Howlin' Wolf
Born Under a Bad Sign - Albert King
Dead Dogs Two - cLOUDDEAD
Misirlou - Dick Dale
I'm in the Mood - John Lee Hooker
99 Problems - Jay Z
Message In A Bottle - The Police
Devil's Haircut - Beck
Gin and Juice - Snoop Dogg
Any others that you have seen, you are more than welcome to post below. Please read the comments before posting to avoid double-listing.
Ready? Steady? Shoot!
All the covers that I have heard are listed, however, I would LOVE to hear a Jack White cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” by The Beatles. Or perhaps “That’s Alright” by Elvis.
Thank you!! Now can we also have some of them covered by Jack? Is it too much?? At least you have the ones from RSD, Maida, Glaston, Seattle, Chicago and any other streaming..Love you guys
Didn’t he & Lillie Mae sing a few bars of The Byrds’ “The Christian Life” at the second Seattle show? Thought I heard it on the radio broadcast (and sorry if someone has already mentioned it & I didn’t see it!)
He touched Zeppelin’s Lemon Song in Detroit, at The Masonic Temple, also. I see you’ve got “I’m in the Mood” up already because that was present… very… it put me in the mood, let me tell you. Devil’s Haircut is already up there… that was a nice surprise, too.
Great… now I’ve got “post kick ass concert depression” kicking in.
Sick show.
I seem to remember a little bit of “On the Road Again” at the STL show, along with “Gin and Juice” already listed.
Why do people consider You Know That I Know and Rose With a Broken Neck to be cover songs? Jack has writing credit on both.
Royals by Lorde at the Milwaukee show
Interesting timing… I just started a Jack White cover songs Spotify playlist :)
This is a great idea. Thanks Third Man. I didn’t go down the whole list of comments but Jack has performed Hank Williams song You Know That I Know at many of the shows I have seen. And might I add he does a damn great cover of that song.
Pipeline by the Ventures in Seattle!!!!!
