The White Stripes
Elephant UHQR
scum stats: limited to 10,000 copies
I am not an audiophile. I am fairly certain that my ears are fried enough that I could never BE an audiophile.
Nevertheless, I helped guide the White Stripes into this realm with the 20th anniversary UHQR 2xLP 45rpm cut of Elephant. By all accounts I've read, every audiophile who's laid ears on this record is beyond impressed with the sound here. I am unsure if I've ever been party to such a universally acclaimed release ever.
There's nothing more really for me to say about that album that I didn't already say in the liner notes on this version. I'm EXTREMELY proud of the notes and maybe one day I'll share it on the blog so that everyone can read. But for now, they're behind the boxset paywall. That being said, the $150 price tag on this puppy is absolutely prohibitive.
(I don't even have a copy of the reel-to-reel tape version of this yet and don't even have a way to play it...but I'm still wanting/needing it.)
Definitely, for now, wanting this because of the packaging & detailed liner notes as I currently have a subpar set up.
My ears have also not stopped ringing since a mid-2010’s Masonic Jack White show. A show where, if I remember reading correctly, a sophisticated & very loud sound system from France was used. One of THEE best shows ever by the way.
I do have a sob story, more like a SAAB story though, about a guy named Eric, in the mid 90’s, from Lincoln Park, Michigan. I’ll save that one for another day.
Take Care!!
I’m a huge fan and this is one of my favorite albums ever! It’s also one of the greatest albums ever made. I can’t afford this.

I received my uncle’s vinyl collection when I was in high school and was filled with MOFI pressings from the late 70’s and early 80’s. I have everything from Steely Dan’s Katy Lied, Cream’s Wheels on Fire, and pretty much everything in between. I treasure these records and have always wanted to add more of the music I listened to when I was growing up in this amazing sounding format. This pressing of elephant would be perfect addition to my over all vinyl collection as well as my collection of audiophile vinyl.

Love it
Do the right thing here – send it home, to its sister
I’ll make space for it right next to my original 2003 red/white 2xlp I snagged from FYE in the mall
Plus winning here will relieve me of the guilt for not emptying my bank account in 2005 to pick up the original Live in Las Vegas that I held in my hands in that pop up shop in NYC before the 07/24/2007 MSG show!!!
I’ve been flip flopping on this release since it was announced. It’s not that I don’t want it. I want it more than anything. I just couldn’t pull the plug on the steep price tag. I already own a handful of different Elephant vinyl releases. My wife would kill me if she knew that I bought another copy of the same record when we are already out of shelf space. I too do not consider myself an audiophile. But maybe I am. I guess I just don’t know because I have yet to obtain any UHQR products to judge for myself. Throw a dog a bone and help me out. Long time listener, first time caller.
That sounds like a great idea! I’ll throw my hat into the ring for a chance to be the recipient of such a generous offering.
May I make a suggestion? Anyone who doesn’t understand punk rock, go to Blondie’s youtube channel and watch- Deborah Harry-PunkRock Preschool. Your Welcome
“Ball And Biscuit”
It’s quite possible that I’m your third man, girl
But it’s a fact that I’m the seventh son
It’s quite possible that I’m your third man, girl
But it’s a fact that I’m the seventh son
And right now, you could care less about me
But soon enough, you will care by the time I’m done
Let’s have a ball and a biscuit, sugar
And take our sweet little time about it
Let’s have a ball, girl
And take our sweet little time about it
Tell everybody in the place to just get out
We’ll get clean together
And I’ll find me a soapbox where I can shout it
Now read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends and see if they know
Read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends and see if they know
That my strength is ten fold girl
I’ll let you see it if you want to before you go
Let’s have a ball and a biscuit, sugar
And take our sweet little time about it
Let’s have a ball
And take our sweet little time about it
Tell everybody in the place to just get out
We’ll get clean together
And I’ll find me a soapbox where I can shout it
And I can think of one or two things to say about it
Alright, listen
Alright, you get the point now?
It’s quite possible that I’m your third man, girl
But it’s a fact that I’m the seventh son
It was the other two which made me your third
But it’s my mother who made me the seventh son
And right now, you could care less about me
But soon enough, you will care by the time I’m done
Yeah, you just wait
You stick around
You’ll figure it out
Patiently awaiting the birth of my first son (could be any day now) and would love for this record to be associated with his birth! Maybe I’ll play The Hardest Button to Button in the delivery room. Not sure the best choice, but probably better than There’s No Home for You Here or Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine.
