Haha. I’m not giving anyone a hard time. I don’t know anyone here. I love you all. Really. Stop the drama!
Hmmm…., I don’t think anyone is saying new people are bad Big D. I’m fairly new myself. Just stop by and give your friends a hard time and you’ll be welcome in no time.
Obviously, I tried joining the conversation at the time I mentioned. No dice. But I’m leaving this here, I have good thoughts for everyone, enjoy your conversations.
wow. did I sound “angry”? in a nutshell what i’m saying is, a “community” doesn’t grow by popping in once a month to say, “I LOVE YOU JACK!”. it grows by getting to know one another. if that makes me angry or a snob, then whatever. and aquamarine, if you don’t join in a conversation, I guess you’ll be ignored. twitter just promotes more of the “fast-food” lifestyle jack seems to dislike. it surprises me that he allows that on his own site.
I don’t really get where the anger is coming from I guess. I’ve never chatted with anyone here. This has “music snob” written all over it. One of those “I liked them before you did” conversations. Which was pretty typical in high school. I only joined The Vault last fall…does that mean I’m new to this stuff? Of course not. I’ve been listening to these groups for 10+ years now. Just means I recently had the ability to finally join and afford The Vault. It’s a great idea. I feel I could hold a decent music conversation with anyone here. It’s the biggest part of my life as much as it is for most of you here. I definitely see the frustration with people that could pop in and ask repetitive or rhetorical questions. Truth is, I probably won’t be around go get upset with it. The Vault will grow, the community will grow, everything grows. I guess you just have to embrace change. It’s a business.
Especially if you’re a calf.
I don’t care how OG a Vaulter someone is. And I hear Aquamarine on this. But tweets bring in the prodigal fans, NOT the people who generally contribute to the Vault community. But it’s also true that $20 or $60 a quarter gives you the access TMR wants you to have. Much as I dislike the tweet way to announce the people “of importance.” (I always hated the prodigal son parable. It totally blows, IMO.)
You know, back in those early days I found whenever I entered the chat room I was roundly ignored by the group of friends who were chatting, so I stopped going there. Of late, I stopped by a few times and found fights going on and backed out quickly. There are several other TMR-focused communities at which I put in a LOT of time instead, but TMR people don’t post there. When Jack or Bens S and B have news to share, or topics whey want aired, I don’t think they intend it just for one small group of people, though I could be wrong. In my case it’s moot because I never see these tweets or emails anyway, but I reserve the right to participate in the Vault chat whenever I like. After all, a bunch of the people there are my friends, too! ;-)
@21x3 Great story, Tisha! Loved it. Thanks for sharing. It makes some ‘complains’ clear and understandable. I really hope community will grow and not only number-wise.
I hope you continue to still send out email notifications for those who are not on Twitter.
