Do you like the White Stripes? Do you like experiments? Do you like the Vault? Do you like combining all three? We do. For our 19th installment of the Vault, we're doing something we've never done before. Something that Vault members have been clamoring for…the exclusive, limited, colored vinyl edition of a record. As you probably know, TMR tries to release a limited version of every record we do. That limited edition is usually available only at certain locations or stores, while the black vinyl version is kept in print forever.
This package will consist of limited colored vinyl pressings of all of the White Stripes singles from their album Elephant. These include…
"Seven Nation Army"
"I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself"
"The Hardest Button to Button"
"There's No Home For You Here"
The b-sides consist of covers of some of Detroit's most pre-eminent artists in 2003…
"Good to Me" written by Brendan Benson and Jason Falkner and originally released on Benson's 2002 album Lapalco.
"Who's to Say…" written by Dan Miller and released by his outfit Blanche in 2003 on their album If We Can't Trust the Doctors…
"St. Ides of March" written by the Soledad Brothers and released on their self-titled album of 2000.
As well as a White Stripes live medley of "I Fought Piranhas / Let's Build a Home" recorded at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York.
Each of these tracks has been remastered from the original analog sources, and in the case of "…March" and "Piranhas" where there were no analog masters, we used only the finest digital files that could withstand sitting unused on a hard drive for over ten years.
The artwork on all the singles has been tidied up, spell-checked and given that special Third Man "je ne sais quoi"
"There's No Home For You Here", which was originally coupled with a generic company sleeve, now has stunning new artwork. It looks electrifying!
And these sleeves FEEL amazing. Employing a process called (we're not making this up) "soft touch aqueous coating" each of these glue-pocket sleeves feels like a hybrid between rubber and lambskin. It's difficult to describe, but immediately noticeable and amazing in person. Each record will be pressed on clear vinyl with with an added vinyl highlight color insertion of either red, black or white. For "There's No Home…" all three of those colors will be added to clear vinyl, to make something truly exciting. All of this will be housed in a custom-made telescoping box, so that these singles can forever live together with distinction in your record collection. Later in 2014 each of the singles will be available individually, on black vinyl, with no box, to the general public.
SIGN UP HERE. Deadline to sign-up for this package is January 31st at 7pm CST.
Knock off the BS TMR! I have Elephant! allthough the 7’ are beautiful…but most of us are bunt out on the same ole same ole! Now what couldnt y’all do ths with GET BEHIND ME SATAN. Release the Album and the do some cool 7’ to comemerate it’s release?
PLEASe QUIT the BULLSHIT and give us fans the one album we have not got yet….in no forms of vinyl very let down on#19 yes i do want to stay a vault member, but i also want to complete my White Stripes catalog on vinyl!! RElease it allready
Yeah, this is not what I was looking forward to but this will be my session release. I’ll try out for a year and if out keeps up with this I’ll cancel. GBMS better be next.
Am with Kali Durga all the way. Bought each of these singles when they were first released on heavy duty black vinyl, all of which were high quality recordings (why re-master something that was supposed to sound raw?). As we know some of the TMR 7" singles are so thin they could fly away in a slight breeze! As a fan of The Stripes for years, I think their music should be left alone now – it will turn into Michael Jackson territory soon where a ‘Best Of’ is issued every year with a different sleeve!
I like the coloured vinyl, different artwork etc etc, but it’s the music that counts in the end. Very, very sad to cancel my membership, but feel like The Vault has ground to a halt. :(
So much negativity. If you don’t like it stop spending $60 a quarter. Simple. I’m in it for the novelty AND the music.
Have you guys given up? I like 7" but I think I like the rest of this community has these already and some in triplicate. I got into TMR for it’s originality and edge but over the past few months things have really gotten stale.
For some reason, this popped into my head:
Old Mother Hubbard
She went to the baker’s To buy him some bread; When she came back The dog was dead! She went to the undertaker’s To buy him a coffin; When she came back The dog was laughing. She took a clean dish to get him some tripe; When she came back He was smoking his pipe. She went to the alehouse To get him some beer; When she came back The dog sat in a chair. She went to the tavern For white wine and red; When she came back The dog stood on his head. She went to the fruiterer’s To buy him some fruit; When she came back He was playing the flute. She went to the tailor’s To buy him a coat; When she came back He was riding a goat. She went to the hatter’s To buy him a hat; When she came back He was feeding her cat. She went to the barber’s To buy him a wig When she came back He was dancing a jig. She went to the cobbler’s To buy him some shoes; When she came back He was reading the news. She went to the sempstress To buy him some linen; When she came back The dog was spinning. She went to the hosier’s To buy him some hose; When she came back He was dressed in his clothes. The Dame made a curtsy, The dog made a bow; The Dame said, Your servant; The dog said, Bow-wow. This wonderful dog Was Dame Hubbard’s delight, He could read, he could dance, He could sing, he could write; She gave him rich dainties Whenever he fed, And erected this monument When he was dead.Went to the cupboard,
To give the poor dog a bone;
When she came there,
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
BTW, I just checked and there was no pee in my cereal bowl this morning.
@blackjack considering the “color issue” with the last release, who really knows what they will look like? I feel like there are serious quality and/or quality control issues with the manufacturer (URP). Don’t get me wrong, I thought the #18 vinyl looked cool even if it didn’t look as cool as advertised. But that was example #2 for me regarding quality control. My vault #17 pressing was completely heinous audio quality…the replacement copy that I received was warped vinyl and I returned that one also. I still have no vault #17 in my possession. I am seriously doubting if the vault packages are worth the money if they vary from what is advertised – and as someone else pointed out, they are advertised as a 12", a 7", and a bonus item. Are they rushing these now?
@RAW they will charge you automatically every 3 months on the same day of the month that you signed up originally. So, for example, if you joined oct 15, then you will be charged jan 15. I had the same last cycle – which was my second package.
So, will there be a clear/red, clear/white, and clear/black version for each 7" , other than “There’s No Home…” which will be clear/red/white/black? Or, for instance, will all copies of “The Hardest Button…” be on clear/white as shown?
