Vault Package #19

Vault Package #19

Do you like the White Stripes? Do you like experiments? Do you like the Vault? Do you like combining all three? We do. For our 19th installment of the Vault, we're doing something we've never done before. Something that Vault members have been clamoring for…the exclusive, limited, colored vinyl edition of a record. As you probably know, TMR tries to release a limited version of every record we do. That limited edition is usually available only at certain locations or stores, while the black vinyl version is kept in print forever.

This package will consist of limited colored vinyl pressings of all of the White Stripes singles from their album Elephant. These include…

"Seven Nation Army"

"I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself"

"The Hardest Button to Button"

"There's No Home For You Here"

The b-sides consist of covers of some of Detroit's most pre-eminent artists in 2003…

"Good to Me" written by Brendan Benson and Jason Falkner and originally released on Benson's 2002 album Lapalco.

"Who's to Say…" written by Dan Miller and released by his outfit Blanche in 2003 on their album If We Can't Trust the Doctors…

"St. Ides of March" written by the Soledad Brothers and released on their self-titled album of 2000.

As well as a White Stripes live medley of "I Fought Piranhas / Let's Build a Home" recorded at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York.

Each of these tracks has been remastered from the original analog sources, and in the case of "…March" and "Piranhas" where there were no analog masters, we used only the finest digital files that could withstand sitting unused on a hard drive for over ten years.

The artwork on all the singles has been tidied up, spell-checked and given that special Third Man "je ne sais quoi"

"There's No Home For You Here", which was originally coupled with a generic company sleeve, now has stunning new artwork. It looks electrifying!

And these sleeves FEEL amazing. Employing a process called (we're not making this up) "soft touch aqueous coating" each of these glue-pocket sleeves feels like a hybrid between rubber and lambskin. It's difficult to describe, but immediately noticeable and amazing in person. Each record will be pressed on clear vinyl with with an added vinyl highlight color insertion of either red, black or white. For "There's No Home…" all three of those colors will be added to clear vinyl, to make something truly exciting. All of this will be housed in a custom-made telescoping box, so that these singles can forever live together with distinction in your record collection. Later in 2014 each of the singles will be available individually, on black vinyl, with no box, to the general public.

SIGN UP HERE. Deadline to sign-up for this package is January 31st at 7pm CST.

I reread my comment and realize that it could come off as whining which wasn’t my intention.
Since the vault started they have always had people upset for whatever reason I remember a lot of complaining with the single collections which I loved because I got to listen to the singles I always wanted but couldn’t afford.
I also remember lots of complaining about the greenhorns record because it was the first album without a Jack related band but that was cool to me because I’m interested in hearing whatever third man wants to throw at me and I’ve never been disappointed.
And I have always enjoyed the different things they have sent like T-shirts,postcards,DVD’s and books plus whatever benefits we get because of the website.
So I am very pleased with my vault experience its just that after 19 packages I’m faced with the first package I considered not getting but will get because I don’t want to miss one.I bet it’s going to be really nice once it arrives and it will look good on the shelf but it’s tempting not to spend the money on the 3 album blues bundle and the gories album which would cost less.(since I still need those)
So I’m looking forward to number 20!I read in the paper today that Jack will be done producing two albums this month one of which will be a new solo album so maybe it will be a new black n blue live show or I know I’m dreaming but a whole album worth of demo’s and outtakes, that would be crazy.

@G_squared, interestingly enough, I just happened to post a pic of my drum set on instagram today. and also played. sounds like we’re hooking up…let the hand holding commence. and I’m still gonna pass on the 45 set. c’mon sweetie, let’s go rock…

G_squared

@21x3. I have a guitar if you have a drum set. Don’t know how my wife would feel about the marriage…I am sure hand holding is ok.

@stacielings. comments are comments. mine was sarcastic and the point was that whining is just as valid as fawning; is just as valid as humor; and just as valid as whatever you think you should post. My favorite comment on this thread so far is @Cobra “This place is hysterical”…hoping that I inspired that one…Laughing at life is more fun than being annoyed by it – I learned that from Monty Python, and practice.

Eight songs? Half of them readilly available on just about anyone’s LP shelf? Ok, colours. Ok, nice box, “soft” sleeves. But, in the end, most people still care in 90% about the music. As someone below said: how about throwing in that documentary? Why not dig out some old ‘Stripes photos and put together an album? Throw in a poster for good measure? Any little thing, really, would make me less sceptic about how much I’m going to enjoy my third Vault package. Last time a 2LP Racs gig, the DVD, and a brand-new DW single, and now – four single reissues. I just hope that in #20 you, TMR will make it up to us.
ps. I’m still looking forward to the package :D

Er . . we are owed. We’ve paid $60. And those who decide not to spend the $60 this time are still entitled to express their opinion about it, so enough with the “if you don’t like it, don’t buy it,” please, folks. And I agree with Kali Durga that this is a subscription service, not a fan club.
