First and foremost, thank you thank you thank you to all of you who took a risk, took your time and took the stage to make imaginative and seriously impressive covers of the songs from Van Lear Rose. We have had a lot of fun watching each of your original takes on these songs that we've come to know and love so much. After seeing you guys pour yourselves into these covers, dare we say we love them even more now? I think so!
Without further ado, the winner is...
Melanie V.! For her thoughtful and excellently executed cover of "Trouble on the Line"! Melanie, you will be sent the production print of the photos from Vault package #24 today. Look for a shipment to arrive to you shortly! As promised, Melanie's video is posted below for all to check out --
Great job, Melanie. We also would be remiss to ignore these honorable mentions:
Federico G. of Italy for his cover of "This Old House"
Mouhammed B. for his live public performance cover of "Miss Being Mrs."
Kate P. for her whistling solo cover of "Miss Being Mrs."
To see these honorable mentions and more, you can search "Third Man Vault Contest" on YouTube with the tags "Loretta Lynn" and "Van Lear Rose." Thanks again y'all! Expect to see updates about your shipments soon soon.

Ha! Good idea Mizz Switzer-Quizze-land. Simmer kids. Everybody did their best or almost :-D It’s Friday night, Let’s not fight. Or quibble. BTW, That must be an autocorrect thingy or did you mean quivel, Quizze? Surely not!? Teehee..Just my uncalled-for quibbling, to lighten or change the subject…Gimme your best shot! ;) Like I said, its Friday night, don’t cry over spilt milk-or whatever the prize was. Remember the milkman, last man standing, keeps his good humor intact.
Yes, perhaps partying will help!
Maybe partying will help…
Communication is often fraught with extraneous technicality and divergent interest any way…
My thoughts on all these concerns tend toward the over generalization of first world bother and acceptance that the many layers of event coordination leave some natural human room for error… I mean… Hey… We are only these frail beings in a massive architecture of social drama and historic moments of difference expressed as catastrophic dilemma on an epic scale of economic distortion of natures resources anyway… Its a shame to quivel… We all know bias exists in this community… Most of the time a sense of fairness wins out and the third man community makes lemonade for us all…
Melanie, you have a beautiful voice. My wife says when she closes her eyes, she see Tonya Tucker singing.
Congratulations, Melanie. You have a lovely voice. Great video.
YeaaaaaH Italy the best ever……
