Third Man Records in select Whole Foods Markets

When we think of healthy living, it obviously reminds us of… ourselves! So maybe we don’t eat as much kale salad as we should, but we sure aspire to. It is for this reason that we are so pleased to have our records and turntables on the shelves of a handful of Whole Body at Whole Foods Markets across California and in Brooklyn! Our goal has always been to spread love for vinyl records far and wide, and we are so pleased that Whole Foods shares the same passion. After all, ears, brains, and souls need TLC too, and the best way we know to keep them happy and healthy is by putting a needle to the groove.

Check out our wares in El Segundo, Fairfax, Oxnard, Pasadena, Santa Barbara, Tempe, Tustin, Venice and West Hollywood, as well as Brooklyn’s new Gowanus market/bar/restaurant/hangout/record store/bike repair/coffee shop — yes, really. We hope that the program will expand to additional cities in the future, so next time you’re getting your quinoa & wheatgrass fix, be sure to mention to the clerk that you’d love to see some vinyl in the aisles.

Excellent. I think it’s a great way for fans who can’t go to Third Man in Nashville to get some of TMR products. Also a great marketing idea! Since you are now in Whole Food I think the next thing Third Man has to come up with is the edible record. Great idea to launch the edible record for Record Store Day. :)

Idk if I agree with the word Hipster. Seems like TMR is trying really hard to appear mainstream.

Bring this to Omaha, NE!

I think this is great! TMR makes amazing products and if Whole Foods can help distribute them to more Americans, I’m all for it. If Whole Foods is going to sell vinyl, it makes sense for them to have a relationship with the best label in the world!

ROJA: Very true, things like this help to pay for things like Cabinets of Wonder. But I think I’d be more excited to see TMR products in my local brick’n’mortar record store, a place where Third Man’s support would be really meaningful, than in Whole Foods. But having them in record stores would be the expected thing and, as you pointed out, TMR is all about surprises. It’s up to us to determine whether we perceive those surprises as good ones or not. That’s the challenge, for both Third Man and us.

@Kali Durga I saw the same tweet, and actually if you click above on the parte that says “yes, really” the word “Hipster” is there..But finally who cares, the important is to spread the word..or the vinyls, so we can have much more interesting musical projects such as Documents, Sun Records and Paramount. Maybe for hipsters this will be a trend, donno, but I know you and I will keep this music forever in our hearts and our turntables..Surprise us TMR.

Weird.

I agree the word HIPSTER is being screamed right now in my brain!

Saw a tweet about this a week or two ago. Can’t decide what I think of seeing Third Man products in the grocery store, especially the expensive grocery store (which I do shop at, by the way, because I admittedly like the over-priced products they sell). My first thought included the dreaded word “hipster”, but then I told myself to be more open-minded. Need to think about it a bit more.
