EPISODE 4:
"DISCUSSION ON LYRIC WRITING WITH DEAD WEATHER VOCALIST ALISON MOSSHART"
DIRECTED BY JACK WHITE
The Dead Weather have released the final of four technique and instrument-based videos. In this fourth episode, vocalist Alison Mosshart lets us in on her favorite way to come up with ideas for lyrics. Please note that we don't necessarily condone her unique method, but we trust her and love the results - a lot. The video, directed by Jack White, concludes with a full band live performance of the smoldering voodoo of "Lose the Right” from the new album Dodge And Burn.

I dig the really strong dark and light contrasts in all the videos… the extreme stark white that glows from the drums and guitars and hands… I love the “masked” bodies… the anticipation of their movement… the mystery and humor that are infused into each video with them…
Alison has the same car as me!!!! Bonus cool points. Love her style and her creative mind. I hope there are more hidden gems like these videos waiting in the wings for our viewing pleasure.
Wow… Alison true to form and wicked clever … This album serves as the culmination and celebration of Alison as her fully realized voice in music… What an honor to share this moment with you all in seeing her rise to the top of her form… No beautiful monster here just beautiful and true!!! And what she brings to this album truly parallels what even Jack himself brings as we here snippets and echos of great riffs from days of White Stripes gone by throughout this collection of songs that recall the level of genius heard on classic releases such as Sgt.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club or Pet Sounds in my humble opinion..http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ixDapEiV4bQ … Dean said it all and said it well … But.. Ally Pally… Please do be careful with all that notetaking as ia little nspiration can go a long way when the wheels are engaged and … Kali … I think there may be little left to claim once all that shifting and scribbling has its way with that machine… Just kidding kidding here.. We all know that ride to be Alisons sweetest thing and key to her freedom…CONGRATULATIONS ALISON on EVERYTHING and Ive always wanted to say just how much I respect the hardships in your journey which I know have taken you to many limits and beyond…seriously… Now keep your third eye focused and watch out for that wiley Jack Randall.. He is one bad man… Let him through!!! http://www.hypable.com/outlander-gabaldon-jack-randall-isnt-gay/ … Oooohhh… Couldnt resist.. Love you all very much … Quizzie … Now lets go rock!
Damn, she’s cool… And so is her car!
I’m gonna miss these short films – they’ve been awesome.
This is my fave TDW album by far and part of it is my new found appreciation of Alison’s vocal style. Thank you so much for these videos. Am sorry to see this is the last one – unless there is another one hidden away somewhere?
Props to Alison for driving a manual transmission, not enough of those on those on the road anymore. And I totally get what she says about ideas coming while driving, though I think of it more as going into a meditative state that allows ideas to flow rather than keeping the brain entertained. Driving definitely doesn’t have to be boring, especially with a car like that one.
@LedBeat pretty sure that was in Dean’s
That rendition of “Lose the Right” just gave me literal goosebumps.
Fuck, this album is so good.
Thanks, TMR and The Dead Weather!
Ah no Let Me Through…. I was hoping for that one. This is great though! Love this band so I love these videos. I’m so intrigued by the actual creation of a song. I’d love to see a jam session where you’re all together coming up with your own parts making a song. :) Would I be the only person that wants to see that??? lol :) Who knows? :) Anyway, thanks for always coming up with new things/gifts for your fans! We’re here! Thanks for not forgetting that. :)
wish her and jack didn’t smoke…I want them to be performing for a long time
