This Monday, we had the great pleasure of hosting 20 lucky Vault contest winners and a guest of their choice in the TMR Blue Room. The stars aligned for a listening party for the Dead Weather's new LP "Dodge and Burn," booming loudly through the Blue Room's infamous speaker system.
With the Stone Fox firing up the grills and the drinks flowing, head production manager Ben Blackwell first took group tours of the Third Man headquarters, from the back porch to the shipping and distribution center to the lathe room and even providing a peek into personal offices. Then, everyone congregated in the Blue Room with the Dead Weather themselves for a full preview of the new LP. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable day.
To the contest winners/listening party attendees, we invite you to share your experience in the comments section below. Hope you had as much fun as we did.

I can’t articulate how much being a part of this day meant to me. It simply was magical. Ever band member and every body there from TMR were so down to earth, listening and answering all our crazy questions, the food, the drinks, the pictures and most of all the music! This was an experience I will never ever forget. Thank you TMR, thank you my friends that were there for sharing this incredible day with me.
Thank you so much for the best experience ever! The tour of TMR, meeting TDW & listening to this amazing record went beyond my wildest dreams! Jack has to the nicest genuine guy ever. I will always remember sitting on the couch with JW & toasting to “Best Monday Ever!”
The kid under the elephant is such a great picture!
Thank you, Third Man Records, for the experience of a lifetime! Watching Jack pull up in his Tesla a little before 11:00 cranked the intensity factor WAY up. It was about to become real. At 11:02, the group headed over to wait for our adventure to begin, and what a day it was! Food and drinks, a Blackwell tour and a bit of “comedy”, and the sights and feels of TMR behind the scenes. And then the Blue Room. The Dead Weather introducing themselves, (wha?? That’s crazy!! Of course we know who you are!!), more drinks, more introductions, and finally Swank introducing “Dodge and Burn.” The album is amazing. Everyone is going to LOVE IT! The gatefold jacket was passed around for us to take a look at while Jack visited with everyone in the crowd and made sure we all had drinks. We were all guests in his ‘house’ and it was mind-blowing. After the LP, we were treated to the video premiere of “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles).” The lights came up, and Angelina was there to take photos of the event for all of us as keepsakes and we all continued to schmooze and drink for about another hour (Thanks, Angelina!). I was the last person dragged out of there, deep in conversation with Cam, and they locked the doors behind me. Received a tremendous goodie bag on the way out. It was magical. Absolutely magical. Thank you, TMR. And thank you Jack, Alison, Jack and Dean for being there to make it so special. I can’t wait for the album, Dead Weather fans are in for a real treat!
Thank you to everyone at Third Man Records for this incredible experience. It all flew by too quickly for me to fully process, and when I was home again, I felt like I had just woken from some wild dream. Were it not for the generous gift bag, I don’t think I’d be able to convince myself that any of that really happened. Pretty cool trip…I love the new album—especially “Let Me Through” and “Impossible Winner”—and I can’t wait to get a copy. Thank you so much for letting us experience it for the first time with you right there in the room.
IS there another record label/art emporium AS FUN AS TMR?? Whose CEO (Respect the TIDAL);) and Resident Musicians are as accessible and attentive to their ardent fans? As creative, productive, and intuitively COOL?? I think not…This event displays again that JACK and COMPANY have “hearts and smarts” – a winning combo worthy of our praise.
oh god i hope they do this again!
Wrote that looked like so much fun!!!
It was lovely Donovan. And so nice to meet you too! I realized I am not socially aggressive at all, but just to be there was enough. I don’t think I could have had much better of a birthday week. Everyone was so generous and kind. The album is perfection. Can we do it again this Monday?
Monday was the second greatest day of my life. Only slightly under the birth of my son. Getting to meet Jack. And the whole band was so nice and down to earth. They were extremely generous, and sat and talked with us. Jack was even handing out drinks. (What a swell guy) And I can tell you Dodge and Burn is going to be a big album. It’s rocks from start to finish. You must crank this up to 11 !!! I can’t wait to hear it again. Everyone there thought it was the best one yet. Thank you everyone at TMR from the bottom of my heart!!! You all made us feel like family. I will never forget this!!! Dodge and Burn, exceptional. Get multiple copies. ;-)
