THE DEAD WEATHER ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM DODGE & BURN
SPECIAL DODGE & BURN VAULT PACKAGE AVAILABLE NOW
Way back in October 2013, The Dead Weather and Third Man Records announced an incredibly special 7” featuring “Open Up (That’s Enough)” b/w “Rough Detective” as part of Vault Package #18. These two tracks were a fierce battle cry heralding the announcement of a brand new Dead Weather album that was to be released in a revolutionary fashion. Teased out over the past year and a half via a series of 7” singles, the physical versions of which were ONLY available via The Vault (Third Man’s one-of-a-kind subscription mail-order service), the band promised this would culminate in a brand new album in 2015. The third Dead Weather LP would be a full length album comprised not only of the previously released 7” singles, but newly recorded, previously-unheard material. Today, The Dead Weather officially announce their new album Dodge & Burn.
Dodge & Burn will be released worldwide in September 2015 on Third Man Records and will feature eight brand new songs, along with the four previously released tracks remixed and remastered. Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence spent their rare and sporadic free moments over the past year recording together in Nashville. With the members of the band heavily involved in other projects, The Dead Weather will not be touring in support of the new album. Thankfully the thick and heavy Dodge & Burn will satisfy your urges for the dark magic that is The Dead Weather for a very long time.
- A limited edition Dodge & Burn LP on Inclement Weather vinyl (that is to say opaque yellow with black ‘debris’) housed in a soft-touch embossed sleeve featuring metallic ink and a Vault-exclusive alternate cover designed by Rob Jones, also featuring a limited edition bonus poster inside.
- The only physical version of the new Dead Weather 7” and single from Dodge & Burn on yellow vinyl with black debris.
- A deck of custom Dead Weather playing cards designed by Silent Giants featuring the band members as the King, Queen, Jack and Joker. Previously released in limited numbers and now, due to popular demand, re-issued for the Vault only with new packaging artwork.
Subscriptions for Vault Package #25 are open until July 31st, visit http://thirdmanrecords.com/vault to sign up now! And if you need a reminder of what you’re in for, here are some clips from the previously released tracks from the upcoming album:
Kali Durga Fuckin Nailed It! Excited for the new DW album. But as vault package 25. meh Jack Acoustic Fargo Show would have been the shit. And I have said this before but don’t spoil us with the sweet fuzzy box sets and then not at least give us a freaking gatefold, how about a tri-fold like Consolers. Love Third Man, love everything they do, this vault feels like you sort of mailed it in, just sayin.
Could someone please explain to me what’s earth shattering about this package? I can see how new Dead Weather songs are earth shatteringly exciting to folks who are fans of the band, but the package itself, taken within the context of Vault releases as a whole, is not terribly shattering. It’s a record that’s also going to be released on black vinyl and a single with two songs that are probably going to be on that very same album, and a deck of cards that used to be a limited edition but aren’t gonna be so limited anymore. If the record was a collection of songs, demos, &/or live stuff that wouldn’t be available anywhere else and there was a dvd of, say, the full, complete Shoreditch show, THAT could definitely be considered earth shattering. TMR has created many much more exciting Vault packages than this and are sure to again, but this one is really just a bunch of pretty colors. Third Man, please don’t let all the excitement in the comments here lull you into thinking that we’re all so easily pleased. Please keep trying harder to really and truly blow us away.
Fantastic!!!!! Just in time for my birthday! Double YAY!! TMR, killing it with these releases! Thank you
I am so excited!
SkyRay…. A person can always dream and fans can always voice their dreams in hopes of lighting up the eyes and hopes of those who grow weary of believing beyond passive faith…. Maybe Mr White and the King of Artful Dodging Mr. Dylan can come to an agreement by way of divining a common goal…. I myself believe King Dylan needs his marble in the Walk of Fame in front of the Country Music Museum as a part of the celebration of the Nashville Cats Exhibit there…. Would he be willing to play a live show with Mr. White to raise the funds for such a worthy moment in time to be memorialized and for the sake of a Vault DVD ….. Who can say??? We have to believe beyond faith and encourage those ears to hear
I don’t know if a more earth shattering package could have been conjured… except maybe the recordings jack has undoubtedly made with King Dylan, if he ever lets those see the light of the third man pressing plant. I know, I’m a dreamer. I’m guessing such recordings would be too precious and sentimental to release in this lifetime.
This is a great package.
Has anyone heard if like the Lazaretto release, the vinyl pressing of Dodge and Burn will not be compressed in any way and be a true analog release?
And Sir Lubbers I don’t expect a down load card with every vault release but lazaretto had one. So it would be super nice if they were able to include it in this one as well. As for other vault releases that’s part of what makes them special is I only have them on vinyl and wel these lovely records were made to be played and played LOUD! Ohh I “shiver with an tic i pation!”
I’m thinking floor mats won’t do it for this album. Maybe third man needs to include some sort of boots to hold me to this massive rock we are on. As I feel this album may blast me into the stratosphere. Only way to keep us grounded with all this excitement. And the wait has just begun.
