Ikey Owens Repass Celebration

This past weekend, friends, family and colleagues of Ikey Owens gathered at Third Man Records to celebrate a life well lived. We toasted to Ikey with his cocktail-of-choice (fernet and ginger ale) and swapped stories about Ikey's talent, sense of humor, and misadventures from the road, all while listening to Ikey absolutely destroy the ivories in his recordings with the Mars Volta and the Free Moral Agents. It was hard not to smile being so surrounded by Ikey's musical genius and photos of him enjoying his every moment. We are all so grateful that we were able to make cameos in such a beautiful man's life, and will always cherish the memory of Ikey Owens.

I just listened to blunderbuss the other day. I always knew Ikey was amazing live but his solos on the recording really popped for me this listen. He was really incredible and I’m very thankful to have seen him live. R.I.P. Ikey

Thank you for sharing TMR. Ikey was obviously respecteded, admired and loved by many. Looks like it was a beautiful night, honoring a beautiful man.

Beautiful words and photos, TMR Family thank you for sharing with us. <3 …And to Jack, how Providential that you brought Ikey into your band when you did that the man and his extraordinary music could be all the more enjoyed and honored around the world before he left us!…Now Ikey Owens’ Life and greater body of work shines beautifully in a bright light of respect and appreciation forever.

I have nothing better than what Kali just said I second all of that. Peace to you all beautiful souls out there!

Thank you for sharing. I’ve seen Jack White solo about five times now and my boyfriend always made us stand by Ikey so he could watch him play. I can appreciate that more now… he will be missed.

Everything I’ve seen posted by members of Jack’s band and here at the Vault makes me believe that you are all just as wonderful as the man whose life you’ve been celebrating since his untimely passing. You have huge hearts and seem to truly appreciate what’s special in other people. As a fan, the little glimpses we get of that side of the Third Man family are just as inspiring to me as the music you give to us. Thank you, and much love to you all.

Thank you so much for sharing this, it is lovely. Ikey may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

How lovely that his family and friends were able to share in celebrating him! Thanks for sharing. He will be missed by so many, and that is the true measure of his life.

Had the pleasure of seeing him play 3 times. Definitively one of the reasons i loved JW live shows. The entire band has so much talent. Love you Ikey and miss you always.
