The Stooges
Live at Goose Lake: August 8th, 1970
scum stats: a shit-ton on black vinyl, 500 on purple vinyl, 1000 with screen-printed cover and cream colored vinyl, 17 copies with custom colored vinyl and multi-color screen printed cover (only given to family and friends, good luck ever getting your hands on one of these, this is why we own a pressing plant)
My life could be all downhill from here. Third Man is releasing a Stooges record that I've personally shepherded through the process and I just hope the rest of my life is not like all the Japanese tourists who suffer Paris Syndrome.
Anyway, today is a day of rejoice and I want to pass along that rejoice to you, the faithful readers. I'm giving away ONE copy of the Stooges "Live at Goose Lake" record here to whomever just has the arbitrarily "best" comment in below. So do it up good.
That person will be able to choose between a purple vinyl copy, a cream colored one, a test pressing, a standard boring black vinyl copy, but not the limited edition of 17 unless their comment reveals that they are sitting an ANOTHER previously unheard Stooges recording which we can also release on Third Man.
I've literally spoken more about this release than any other new title on Third Man ever and possibly...more than any other record I've EVER spoken about. Shit, there's Dirtbombs albums I've not spoken a lick about and this damn release has me on over twenty interviews so far and still going.
So as I've said enough about this one already, just check out the sublime beauty that is "Funhouse" live.
it’s my first Stooges LP
So who won the giveaway?
When is the next Cass release?
I may not know as much as I’d like; but I know I like becoming a person who knows more than he did the day before. While viewing one of Jacks random interviews over the last few months, he mentioned a thanks to The Stooges for releasing Funhouse. I had not heard it, but I put it immediately on my list of “inspired, suggested music”. Played through it that week, and I have been searching for it ever since. My heart pumped righteously that day. My record collection is small, but it’s ambition is fierce. I WANT to Know what is inside of this copy. I want to study the art on the sleeve and read the words they decided to put in this physical issue. I hope the giveaway has not yet happened; I may be late to the game, and this may be my first vault subscription period, and yesterday may have legitimately been my 26th birthday (during which I got no gifts and coveted the triple jet auction), but I hope my passion is clear and that it is made Well Known that I would honor the receiving of this record.
The first time I ever saw Iggy and The Stooges live is when they played ‘Fun House’ live in its entirety at Vegoose in 2007!
I’ve never even listened to the Stooges, but I know this record is going to change my life. That feeling that washes over you, when you lay on your bed with the lights out, crank up some headphones and transport yourself into the music. No distractions, no expectations, just an awe inspiring introduction to a whole new world.
I someday hope to visit TMR. I love how you guys seem to be off the beaten path and release not only new artists that are different than most music these days, but release older items that people haven’t heard. I love how you guys do everything in house now and can not only release unique music, but also ensure top quality pressings and packaging! Bravo to you guys!
This record is something I wish I had jumped on when special versions were available, but maybe I was just meant to win this little contest in order to have it :)
BANGARANG!
The best day of my life? The day I got my braces off and later that evening saw Iggy Pop perform at the Palladium in Hollywood. Yeah, I peaked at 16. Thanks for the giveaway! Fingers crossed you haven’t chosen the lucky guy or gal yet.
I’m sure this contest is over so I don’t deserve to win this. Or do I?
