Hey Guys I am also in the UK and Still waiting for Vault Package 20 to arrive! I sent an email last week but still have not heard anything :-( I guess I am not the only one!
@athinkingcat Great discussion topic- earliest vinyl memories …hhmm…. well I am the youngest of 8 and my parents were older by the time I came along so despite being born mid ‘70s I heard my parents play a lot of Johnny Cash (my Dads fav), Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and they loved Dolly & Loretta. Being Canadian we also heard a lot of Anne Murray growing up. I was actually named after that bubblegummy song by The Association- “Everyone Knows its Windy”- (they thought the lyrics were Wendy). Having lots of much older siblings I inherited their vinyl collections and grew up on the Beatles, Doors, Zeppelin, the Who (my brother-in-law was in a Who cover band!!), Beach Boys and Canadian rockers Rush. The first LP I bought myself was The Police’s Synchronicity -which I still have, but man, now I wish I had the rest of the collection from those days! And yes we had the Chipmunks Christmas album!!
(I’m in the UK, by the way…)
I’ve not even had a shipping notification. I’ve almost worn out the needle on my Spotify player in anticipation of this album.
Jeez am still waiting for my Vault package here in England. Anyone else still in this boat???
@Wendy that is awesome! I will have to try that with my son as he already plays all our home videos at super speed and spends as much time as i will let him giggling away at them. Your post makes me think of a new Third Man topic of discussion. What was the first record you remember your parents ever playing. For me i must have been two or three around 76 or 77 and my dad played me The Chipmunks sing The Beatles. and at around 6 or so i remember everyone being really psyched about The Wall. Went to my uncles house and he had just gotten a copy and they had a little listening party. I vividly remember hearing it and can still see the dust jacket sitting on the floor in front of the stereo. Funny the way music keeps so many moments snap shots of life so very vivid in my mind. Whenever i hear any song of Breakfast in America by Supertramp or Heart Dreamboat Annie i am instantly transported to riding in the car with my dad and us singing along. They were my two top requests in the car and a little girl. Can’t wait to see what my kids remember like that as they get older.
