It seems like only yesterday that Third Man was opening its doors for the first time, inviting a very select few friends and fans inside a nondescript black building in an historically industrial part of Nashville, Tennessee, just a stone’s throw from the bustling downtown honky-tonks. It was in this magic environment that the Dead Weather, a collaborative project between Jack Lawrence, Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita and Jack White, would make their live debut.

As a part of the inaugural festivities, attendees were invited to live the experience fully through their five senses and trade in their cell phones upon entry. In return, each guest was given a sealed blank envelope which included a hand-painted 7” test pressing of the Dead Weather’s first single “Hang You From the Heavens.” Each band member painted artwork for each of the one-of-a-kind singles, and a unique strip of photos taken by the full band in the Third Man photo booth was contained inside. All were thought to have been given out the night of the event. At least, that’s what we thought.

In his closet, Jack has uncovered an additional sealed, hand-painted Dead Weather “Hang You From the Heavens” 7” from that otherworldly night. The artwork for this single has not been seen since 2009 and could have been designed by any member of the band.

So, here’s the scoop, friends: we are going to give this ultra-rare single away to one lucky Vault member as a part of the coolest Vault contest to date. All current Vault members will be have their name automatically entered into this contest. Any Vault member who successfully gets a friend to purchase a Platinum Vault membership between now and Friday, July 31 at midnight CST will have an additional 50 entries into this contest. The new Platinum Vault member (your friend) will automatically be given one entry as well.

To be entered successfully, you must include your first and last name as well as the name and email address of the friend that signed up for a Platinum Vault membership thanks to your recommendation. All entries will be double-checked to ensure that the referred party's Platinum Vault subscription has been activated during this brief period of time. Then, on Monday, August 3, we will use a randomizer to pick one Platinum Vault member as the winner, announce it on the Vault site and ship the 7” with an insane amount of packing material. Probably in a fireproof box or a safe. Who knows.
