At 441 West Canfield Street in Detroit's historic Cass Corridor sits a building that housed the Willys Overland Motor Company in the early 20th Century and is currently home to the Shinola flagship, The Jolly Pumpkin Brewery, Run Detroit, Willy's Detroit retail store, and now, as of November 27th, 2015, Third Man Records Cass Corridor.
We are overwhelmed and overjoyed by the amount of fans, family, and friends who were in attendance yesterday as we opened our doors for the first time to the public. This space is the amalgamation of many months of dreaming, scheming, blood, sweat, and tears, and we are beyond thrilled to finally show it to the world.
Our second retail space, which will soon also be home to Third Man Vinyl Record Pressing, is so much more than just a store, It's a bonafide paradise for music lovers, the contraption-curious, and the inner kid in us all. Have a seat and flip a page or two in our Third Man Books Nook, bribe the Third Man Records House Band — The Syncopators — into playing a song from their jukebox fake book, listen to our ENTIRE catalog in our Listening Booth... You can record your own (incredible sounding) 6" record in the second of two Third Man Recording Booths (the first still lives in our Nashville flagship). Collect another Mold-a-rama sculpture for your prized chachki shelf (it's a yellow mold of our satellite superstar, the Rolling Record Store!) Take a photo in the Impossible Photo Booth, the first booth of its kind to shoot using our Impossible Duochrome Black & Yellow film, made specifically for Third Man Records by Polaroid-heros the Impossible Project. Ride Mini Topsy, a motorized Elephant scooter who is ready to take smalls and talls alike for a spin around the store.
If you're one of those folks who must see to believe, you're in luck. We captured the whole day on film. Give it a watch below, and if you weren't one of the good folks who waited in line to welcome us on our first day of business, please do stop by and see us soon. We are humbled to be in a position where we can return to the town that started it all, and absolutely thrilled for what the future holds for Third Man Records Cass Corridor. Thank you, Detroit.
So it took me over a FULL week to get down, but yesterday was a Blue Ribbon Day there in the Cass Corridor. Holy Shit, Batman…this place is stupendous. Thank you TMR, thank you, thank you, thank you. Detroit Rocks. Truly. I’m so proud. Great employees! Great selection! Great excitement! Great future! I cannot believe what is happening in the Motor City right now. Astounding progress. WOW!
This is so amazing. So proud of Third Man!! Can’t wait to travel to the extended locale! :)
Now it will be like having a record pressing plant in our livingrooms… How cool is that?? Triple the opportunity to take vinyl home from the Live Show you just saw… Thanks for sharing the details of the new store and for keepin it real TMR!
I was at the grand opening on Friday. The store is fantastic. There’s a small stage for bands to play, (whichJack White provided throughout the day) and a wide array of vinyl and other Third Man product to choose from. The area for the record pressing has large windows so once operational, customers may watch the process from beginning to end. Despite the incredible amount of people who showed up for the grand opening, the employees were gracious and very helpful. In every nook and cranny there is something to see, hear and/or learn. A lot of imagination and hard work has gone into this shop and it shows. Between the exceptional staff, diverse product that’s sold at a fair price and strategically placed seating areas, the store gives off a positive and welcoming vibe in which you want to spend your time. It’s a vinyl junkie’s dream come true. I look forward to returning when it’s not so frantic. So I can really take my time and enjoy the experience.

Beautiful store!
Thank you TMR Detroit staff for all your hard work the whole weekend. Sending us out Thanksgiving Dinner, late night pizza, and cake to celebrate was such a kind gesture. The patience you had with the long lines and requests was sheer grace. A special thank you to Jack for being so dear to the children I brought. He went above and beyond making their day magical. I could not be more proud to be a Detroiter, and TMR fan/collector than I was on this homecoming. The store and future pressing plant our simply stunning. This neighborhood will be forever changed. Thanks TMR Cass Corridor (the heart of Detroit), Both Ben’s, and Jack whom has always been a gentlemen and a scholar.
@BATMACAMBA Thanks!
@Brian Monday-Saturday 10-6, Sunday 11-5!
Had a great time at the opening but want to go back soon: What are the hours of the store?
