Striped: The Story Of The White Stripes

In 2000, The White Stripes had achieved their wildest dreams: Putting out records and touring the country. But Jack and Meg White were about to find out that maybe their wildest dreams weren't wild enough. From wowing the greatest DJ of all time to being chased by the coolest record labels — Striped Season 2 follows the band as they stand on the brink of international stardom. You'll hear that story from the people who witnessed it firsthand. Hosted by music journalist Sean Cannon, Striped is a production of Third Man Records and Nevermind Media.

S2 E1: The Wind Is Blowing
As Ben Blackwell says this season, 2000 is a crucial year of connections for Jack and Meg White. One of those connections was the greatest radio DJ of all time. Another was the first member of The White Stripes' "team" — someone who would set them on a collision course with industry heavyweights later in the year.

S2 E2: Nobody To Answer The Phone
A catalyst for many of Jack and Meg White's crucial connections in 2000 was The White Stripes' first real tour, out to the West Coast and back. Those three weeks would play a pivotal role in the rest of the year — and the rest of their career.

S2 E3: Got A Letter This Morning
The White Stripes' trip out west knocked over some dominos that foreshadowed what was to come as Jack and Meg burrowed further into the new millennium — including a jaunt to the other side of the country and a few interesting offers.

@ Bryan, you okay man? You seem really angry. Don’t get upset over such trivial things man. I understand that you. The last vault package sounds like shit, that’s just a fact.

This podcast sucks, first off why does a podcast have seasons??? The host has a super annoying way of talking, just weird awkward pauses and trying to be quirky and funny but it’s just weird, just talk normal. There’s been some good interviews and some new history, that’s for sure. My biggest turn off how this is obviously only out there as an advertisement for the vault, this latest podcast was about 25% commercials. I try to enjoy it but overall it’s just bland and you can feel the commercialism in it, they probably need it more than ever cuz people definitely are going to be signing up for the Vault, that’s a low on the priority list right now for most. To me there’s just so much filler, I’d much rather have one or two hour documentary that I could just stream, whether it’s actual video or still more engineered towards the podcast formula. if you go back all the way to season one, episode one to right now I just feel like you could automatically get rid of 30% of the information and just have a clean cut documentary that would be great. Just my opinion…

This podcast and all the early live shows from the Vault and Nugs have been my coronachaos pandemic antidote. Nothing has maintained my equilibrium and eased the boredom like hopping in the car and driving around and around and around, enveloped in the early naive and innocent days of the Stripes. Thanks, y’all (TMR, Blackwell, & Mr. Cannon).
