Striped Podcast - EPISODE 4

TOMORROW! Tuesday the 22nd of October 2019. Tomorrow, the fourth installment of the Striped podcast will be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world, available to all via your favorite podcasting app (or right here! bit.ly/StripedPod).

If you've been listening, you've heard the original story from the people that were there, from Brendan Benson to Ben Blackwell, the Reverend Doctor Johnny Walker of the Soledad Brothers to his majesty Wayne Kramer of the MC5. You've learned about the genesis of the mid-late 90's motor city garage rock renaissance that gave birth to the White Stripes, the musical backstory, the socioeconomic backstory, insight into the scene at the time. Hell, bop up to Detroit and you could probably give a pretty convincing tour yourself at this point.

In the most recent episode you lucky folks who purchased Vault 41 may have even heard a few familiar tunes from The Go, how Dave Buick’s jacket and haircut cemented his place in the band, and the story of their involvement with Sub Pop. We even got into the beginnings of the debut White Stripes LP, its recording in a freezing-cold chicken slaughterhouse, leading up to its release by the hugely influential Sympathy For the Record Industry. Not to mention a couple little Easter eggs from Vault 42...

SPEAKING of which - BEHOLD! Episode 4 jumps right in at the self-titled White Stripes LP. If you're positively itching as we are for the release of Vault 42, this is an episode not to be missed. 30-odd minutes of intimate insight, inexhaustible inspiration and incalculable insanity (Thanks be to Roget's Thesaurus) beginning thusly the White Stripes' steady rise to global rock domination and the pantheon of the stadium chant elite.

About Striped: The Story Of The White Stripes

Two decades ago, The White Stripes hit the scene in a real way. Jack and Meg White dropped their debut album, blew minds, toured with Pavement, and sewed the seeds for worldwide rock and roll domination — with some bumps along the way. You'll hear that story from the people who witnessed it firsthand.

Its the podcast i have been waiting forever for. Please continue!

@Milkman, that’s why I was saying they should just make a podcast about the 90’s Detroit rock scene. There’s a lot of material and so far I feel like there been just as much info about other bands as the WS.

Milkman

@Raw, yeah. Obviously. But a well researched and entertaining commercial. One that I would like to see more of.

Raw

@Milkman, it is an advertisement lol.

Even when it feels like a not so veiled several week advertising campaign for the new vault (for which I am very excited), I still love this. Not only is the insider information and context interesting and enriching, but it makes me feel like I am going to get so much more out of the vault package by having this additional context. I would not have fully appreciated the video portion of this package if I did not understand what a pivotal, important show it was for the band. I’m sure it is not in the cards, but I’d be all in on a stripped down version of this for all vaults. I’d quit my job and be a TMR researcher if we could make that happen. I already have a great mustache, so I’m sure I’d fit right in.

Sorry for the repeat. Not sure what happened there and can’t edit.

Raw It’s a basic storytelling techniqueRaw it’s a basic storytelling technique known as “setting up the scene”—to give someone the information that they need so that they can understand what is going to happen or be said.

@Raw because a podcast about Led Zeppelin wouldn’t talk about the yardbirds

This podcast is pretty good but it should just be called Detroit 90’s Rock History. It’s a very unique genre in music history that’s great to hear more about. I would love to hear more about other bands and artist from that time. Besides, it was said in Episode 1 that Jack or Meg won’t be on this podcast. It’s not really just about The White Stripes. The only thing I can’t stand is the host. He has a nasally voice which gets annoying very quick. On top of it, he has this weird style of making odd long pauses, mumbling a bit etc…
