Mudhoney Live at TMR

Mudhoney Live at TMR

25 years and 9 studio albums since they dropped their dirty bomb of a first single on Seattle, clearing the landscape for grunge to grow like kudzu and threaten the extinction of all other forms of rock 'n' roll, Mudhoney is still Mudhoney, wit and riffs in tact. Their silver anniversary has the quartet back out on the road touring in support of their latest release Vanishing Point, and we couldn't be more thrilled for them to bring the real thing to our Blue Room September 26th to record a set direct-to-acetate in front of Nashvillians-who-know.

Thursday, September 26th

w/ CHEAP TIME

Doors 7pm, Show 8pm

Tickets available NOW.

Hey @CINCI. just gotta post to point out some of our connections. I was in Nashville 98-2000 for grad school. I only spent the summer 2000 in Nashville and man that heat was oppressive for a NW guy. I moved back to Humboldt county that August. Saw Jimmy Page with The Black Crowes in New Mexico on my drive home, btw.

I have seen PJ probably a dozen times, but only acoustic and only at the Bridge School Benefit; I wanted to see them last fall, but the closest show to me was right at Thanksgiving, 5 hrs away. There was a period when I never missed the Bridge. I actually flew out from Nashville for the Bridge 98 and 99 (1999 was beyond the usual epic). I’m new to the WS/JW scene and have only seen JW once and that was at the Bridge. The day that I saw was with the buzzards, and mosshart joined for a song (or 2?). I have an audience recording if you are interested.

So, I think that shed was called starwood amp when I was there? saw Dylan and Paul Simon double bill there in 99…phish in 2000. Saw Willie at the Ryman in 2000. Iactually joined the vault to get the Willie vinyl. Just saw last night that Willie is playing the Greek (Berkeley) in April. The Greek, The Ryman, and Red Rocks are the 3 best venues that I have seen music at – I have not been to the Gorge; but it is on my list. ok, now I’m rambling…

Just got to say: If anyone is not familiar with the Bridge School, you should check it out. They are an amazing example of humanity and put on a weekend of concerts every October that is musically diverse and just full of LOVE.

PS: When I saw the JJ & Enation band in Nashville this past summer I gave them my black and blue vinyl record from attending the Ted Leo show in the Blue Room to try to encourage the Enation band to get by TMR to visit the complex and possibly set up a show date…keeping fingers crossed. Also, in the past couple of days, got schooled on the Nashville based band Stone Senate (with more of a southern rock sound). The lead singer’s fiancé works where I stay when I am in Nashville and she says her and her fiancé live in the Music Row area in downtown Nashville and they see Jack White walking around there. She didn’t know he has a place in Nashville where they could visit so I am spreading the word around Nashville about TMR. After checking out Stone Senate’s web sites and viewing their music on youtube.com I would like to see the Stone Senate band play a “live” show in the Blue Room in 2014 too…more fingers crossed.

Temporarily coming out of my disappearing act (keeping a low profile status for a while) to mention that as I was checking Pearl Jam’s web site this morning I saw that the fellow Seattle based Mudhoney band had been opening up for PJ on their last tour. I wish I would have yelled out to the Mudhoney band guys when I saw them in TMR’s Blue Room to say “Hi” to the PJ guys….been a fan of PJ’s for over two decades now. The summer I got to TN (2000) PJ played at Nashville’s now defunct outdoor arena and Eddie Vedder played at the Ryman Auditorium in the summer of 2009. The band doesn’t have Nashville listed on their 2014 tour = bummer! It seems that PJ is a difficult band to catch “live”, unless you live in the Pacific Northwest (once upon a time I did and I want to go back there every hot and humid summer in middle TN). I am following another Washington State based band called Jonathan Jackson and Enation. Jonathan Jackson was the kid Lucky on the tv show General Hospital and now is Avery on the tv show Nashville. Since Jonathon is living and working in Nashville his brother Richard Lee, the drummer and their friend, Daniel, who plays bass in the Enation band have been visiting Nashville from Battle Ground Washington to play a show and then make a record in Nashville. I’m hoping for a JJ & Enation band show in the Blue Room in 2014. Also mentioned to the JJ & Enation band that they should get to know the Washington State based PJ band and Neil Young too and play at Neil’s Bridge School benefit concert some fall like Jack White and friends did.

Got a ticket to see yet another band that I have never heard of before. I left a little bit of myself in the Tacoma/Seattle area after I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington for 13 months a long, long, long time ago (Aug. 82 To Sept. 83). I planned to get out of the army there and stay there for the rest of my life but the army had other plans for me and sent me to Germany….and I never got back to Washington State. Out of that Pacific Northwest area came Pearl Jam who I discovered when Neil Young started playing with them and now I’m learning about this Mudhoney band out of Seattle for the first time. It’s like the little pieces of myself that I left behind are catching back up to me. My heart doesn’t feel so weak anymore and my spirit is being revived. My soul thanks you all at Third Man Records.
