Lazaretto ULTRA LP

Jan 25, 2021

Over the past 5 years, Third Man Records has brought to life many ideas that are new to the century-old vinyl format. So, when it came time for the creative hive to discuss the vision for the pressing of Jack White’s Lazaretto, we were keenly aware of what it would take to produce a piece of wax worthy of the music it would contain… No single innovation would suffice. We needed to go big. We needed to go bold. We needed to press an ULTRA LP.

- 180 gram vinyl

- 2 vinyl-only hidden tracks hidden beneath the center labels

- 1 hidden track plays at 78 RPM, one plays at 45 RPM, making this a 3-speed record

- Side A plays from the inside out

- Dual-groove technology: plays an electric or acoustic intro for “Just One Drink” depending on where needle is dropped. The grooves meet for the body of the song.

- Matte finish on Side B, giving the appearance of an un-played 78 RPM record

- Both sides end with locked grooves

- Vinyl pressed in seldom-used flat-edged format

- Dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record

- Zero compression used during mastering

- Different running order from the CD/digital version

- LP utilizes some mixes different from those used on CD and digital version

Vault members needn’t worry – the Vault version and the standard version of Lazaretto both contain all ULTRA LP features. The LP will come with an MP3 download card. Pre-order begins today. Lazaretto will be officially released June 10th.

Ps. Capital "B"s for Bens all around. Sorry. And most importantly I must say how amazed I continue to be at your God given gift of music and songwriting , Jack. And to your credit, your relentless hard work using this talent blesses us all over and over again! Lazaretto (such a great word) n High Ball Stepper just stun me! Mesmerizing. Primordial. Sounds that are Other-worldly yet earthy. That video is rivetting to the last droplet and ear exploding crescendo. You are our singular Patron Saint of Music past, present and future, dear sir! Self-imposed Lazarettos seem to be your cross to bear for the greater good of us all. Lol. Just stay as humble as you seem n refresh your body, mind and spirit with GOODNESS n you will bless and be blessed in quarantine I mean on earth as it is in heaven. ;D let them who have ears to hear, listen up!

You, Jack, Ben n ben have so amused n entertained me since joining the TMR vault a year ago that I’m compelled to finally speak my two cents here.Thank you Gents for being such dapper ,mannerly, clever fellows so hip n sly, great tongue in cheek humor; that is your gift that keeps on giving. (For a modest quarterly fee of course.);) But No complaints from moi! Trickery, chicanery aside, in TMR’s World of Wonders, I’m happier than your average mermadon(ette)? I have no idea what I’m referencing there,Jack, in spite of my trivia prowess. Sounds like a chum of sponge bob’s (Will have to google it later).

So excited I got a shipping verification notice the other day from Third Man. I can’t wait to get this. I think I am at the end of the list this time in terms of shipping so I will try and wait patiently for it.

Funny Wendy Tomlinson when I heard a recording of the lol boil weevil song first time a few years ago. Called my sister who is fifteen years younger than I and made her listen. She always made fun when I would talk about jack n his music etc. Well my grandmother just passed three years ago at 89 and she used to sing us that song. So for her a new respect for jack she no longer rolls her eyes and we can sing that song and know finally thanks to jack who it is originally by.

Thanks athinkingcat! i wondered if it was a regional thing. Here in Canada we call whiskey ‘rye’.

Today it wasn’t Jack White, it was me who was very excited to listen Lazaretto on the main radio station in Monterey, Mexico. This is big, since I’ve never listened to any song from Blunderbuss here in the radio. So Jack could you please start planning a show here in my hometown??? It made my day…I turned up the volume, and I just forgot about everything else
