Hot on the heels of the release of their debut album Horehound, The Dead Weather played an absolutely incendiary set at the legendary Mayan Theater in Los Angeles on August 26th, 2009. This fiery performance captures the band at their most feral and raw, firing on all cylinders, full of broken glass, black leather and strobe lights. For YEARS this show has been whispered about as one of the best shows the band has ever played, so now felt a better time than ever to release this performance into the world. Featuring audio expertly mixed by Grammy Award-winner Vance Powell, the immersive concert film The Dead Weather: Live at the Mayan directed by Vern Moen is revelatory. The band’s signature gems like “Hang You From the Heavens” and “Treat Me Like Your Mother” sit pretty with explosive non-album B-sides like “You Just Can’t Win” (originally by Them) and “A Child of a Few Hours is Burning to Death” (originally by the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band). The companion audio of Live at the Mayan marks the first-ever live LP from The Dead Weather’s first year and serves as a blistering reminder as to why this band still matters. Your stereo will thank you…your neighbors, maybe not so much.
Coupled with the LP/DVD of the Mayan performance is the final 7” 45rpm installment from the Dodge and Burn album. As folks should remember, every song from the band’s acclaimed 2015 album was exclusively released on 7” format via the Vault. “Three Dollar Hat” b/w “Lose the Right” on beautiful black and yellow vinyl is the final piece of the puzzle. As a special treat, subscribers for Vault Package #32 will receive a deluxe box to house ALL six singles from Dodge and Burn Vault releases.

As I join to the Vault game late at vault 20. Off and on I’ve had fun picking up past releases where I can when I’m able to monetarily. As excited as I am for the upcoming vault. I just have to say that I got a hold of the nine miles from White City LPS for a third time. The first time I bought them from someone else and they were warped. I was going to send them to my friend so if he could unwarp them he could keep them because I happened to get a copy from The Vault novelties. Well Whoopsie Daisy I sent him the wrong path so here I sit with the warp copy. I guess the third time’s the charm I finally had enough extra money to buy it again last week a third time. And as much as I love Mississippi and all the other live White Stripes records holy hell hands down 9 miles from White City is the best. The guitar Jack’s voice the banter the ha ha during ball and a biscuit that cracked me up. Boy were they having an excellent night that night. Always makes me sad that I never got to see them live but I’m so glad that you have continued throughout the years to reissue more of these live records that I missed out on these shows. So I can close my eyes and imagine being right there and singing and jumping and clapping and laughing along. I can’t wait to see what you will all have in store for us 4 vault 33. I have high expectations but this is going to be hard to top. Thank you all so much and Ben Blackwell thank you for archiving all the crazy things that you have saved throughout the years and let us see bits and pieces of. I hope you all have an amazing day and I’m going to go put on side 3 of 9 miles from White City again because it’s just that amazing. And then to get ready for 32 I’m going to listen to the dead weather live at Third Man. This House is Rockin out today! No I won’t be in Detroit or Nashville this year for Record Store Day I’ll be there in spirit I hope you all have an amazing day. Hopefully they’ll have Jack’s new single up here for that day I’m still going to line up at 6 a.m.

so…….seriously….. can we get another Dead Weather tour announcement to get new joiners and a chance for some live throw down on some of these monster songs? even if it was just 3-5 date and one to two festivals? pretty please with gasoline on top??? it would mean more album sales for this last one….. come on kids….. just a tiny little itty bitty tour :.-(0
