GRAMMY NOMINATIONS FOR JACK WHITE, PARAMOUNT RECORDS AND NEIL YOUNG

We are an indie label with a small staff and a big heart, which is why we are surprised and elated to have received 6 (6!) Grammy Nominations today. We have worked so hard this year to bring you some of the best music — whether it be reissues of the songs that shaped the American musical landscape, the voice of a legend uniquely recorded in a musical relic brought back to life, or the aural manifestation of the journals of a 19-year old aspiring upholsterer — and we couldn't be happier that our passions have aligned with what YOU want to hear. THANK YOU.

Jack White has been nominated for 4 Grammys, including “Best Alternative Music Album," “Best Rock Song,” and “Best Rock Performance” for his Lazaretto, which, incidentally, has sold 80,000 VINYL RECORDS in the US since its release in June of this year, and over 150,000 VINYL RECORDS worldwide. We are so proud of this record, so proud of the Ultra LP we pressed it on, and so proud to have Jack White at our creative helm.

Third Man Records and Jack White, along with Revenant Records, have also been nominated for our efforts in releasing The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-27) in the categories of "Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package" and “Best Album Notes” (written by Scott Blackwood). This project, the second edition of which is also available now, has been a labour of love for its collaborators for years, and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to tell the true story of American Music through such a gorgeous medium. This box set includes 800 tracks from 172 artists, 6 180 gram LPs, 2 books, a first-of-its-kind music and image player app, 200+ original ads and images from the 1920's, and a sturdy quarter-sawn oak cabinet with lush velvet upholstery, demonstrating Paramount's original calling as a furniture company in Wisconsin. To add this amazing anthology to your collection, purchase here.

The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records, Volume 2 ups the ante — a feat we weren't even sure was possible — spanning the years 1928-1932, and following Paramount on its furious run for the ages, birthing an entire genre of Mississippi Delta blues and issuing some of the most coveted records in the history of wax. We're talking Skip James, Charley Patton, Son House, Tommy Johnson, Willie Brown, King Solomon Hill, Tampa Red, Lottie Kimbrough, Rube Lacy, Meade Lux Lewis, Buddy Boy Hawkins, Jaydee Short, George "Bullet" Williams, Cow Cow Davenport, Clifford Gibson, Ishman Bracey, Louise Johnson, Geeshie Wiley & Elvie Thomas, The Mississippi Sheiks, and hundreds of other artists. All this, and in an even sexier package than the 1st - a polished aluminum and stainless steel "Machine Age" cabinet containing another 800 tracks, books, ads, USB drive with app and 6 180 gram LP's pressed on alabaster vinyl with hand etched numerals and holographic images. It is a sight to behold and an object that can make its owner an expert and a connoisseur of American music. Purchase The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume 2 here.

We are also so pleased to have received a Grammy Nomination for "Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package” for Neil Young’s A Letter Home, "an unheard collection of rediscovered songs from the past recorded on ancient electro mechanical technology." This record was so personal to Neil, and we are honored that it was recorded in our Record Booth — the very one YOU can record in if you visit our shop in Nashville. Congratulations to our dear friend Neil!

Winners will be announced at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards which will be broadcast live on CBS at 8pm ET/PT on February 8th, 2015. Be sure to tune in!

Wow. Amazing! Fantastic! The “deaf, dumb, & blind” music industry types at the Grammy’s have finally stepped out of their little boxes and instead of nominating the usual suspects, they actually did something wonderful. Nobody deserves more than Jack and his friends and fellow musicians for bringing all this attention to vinyl, the roots of blues and just plain unimaginable workmanship. Thank-you for your dedication to excellence. (saving my pennies for Paramount 1 & 2!)

Amen to what you said Quizze!…Jack, our Patron Saint of Music Past , Present and Future, you have worked so hard promoting our most beloved vinyl, and shining a spotlight on the history of the blues with such love and detail! This Gifted talent (yours and those around you)imagination, craftsmanship, willful focus and drive, panache and style (you like to call it trickery, happy accidents, being modest, but I call it applied talent and vision) CANNOT be Dismissed or Ignored. And most importantly, Your music so infused with our musical heritage is A shot of adrenaline to our culture, making it more vibrant, more alive!! Like a new paradigm… Change happens. Yes, it’s happening alongside the soulless, utterly forgettable tripe that people today accept as music… But hard work does pay off! And light does overcome darkness-in the “fullness of time”. God has sent us another angel down. No Lazaretto can contain you.

Congratulations, TMR! The sales numbers for ‘Lazaretto’ are phenomenal; what an accomplishment. My local alt-radio station was promoting an upcoming series about the history of vinyl and they specifically mentioned the impact that Jack has had on the resurgence of vinyl; it was good to hear him get the credit he deserves.
