Original 1960s James Brown / Famous Flames Stage Cape..... This garment was acquired from one of Mr.Brown's trumpet players during a recording session at King Records Studios, Cincinnati, Ohio (1960s), to settle a debt (the trumpet is also being auctioned on eBay). The cape is in excellent overall condition. It is approximately 40" length from top to bottom and will fit most anyone. It's constructed of soft, shiny black acetate-type material with a lime-gold color lining. The title on the back of the cape is embroidered/stitched. The outer edge of the cape is trimmed with sequins. There are a few marks/stains on the inner lining (please scrutinize the pics). It's been in storage for almost 50 years. I have no photos of Mr. Brown using this cape in his show. It's obviously a precursor to the more opulent capes that he used in the '70s/'80s/'90s, etc.
