I’m sure if one was to listen to the first track they will be familiar with the first song since it was in that VW commercial from back in the day.
I have to be honest I am not familiar with Nick Drake’s music – my comments are not criticizing the man’s musical talents just the condition of the record. I can’t help but think Third Man’s ebay news posts are their sarcastic sense of humor considering the condition of this record and also the other ebay items they posted. A Guinea pig in chain mail? Nick looking “lonely in his natural habitat” – that made me laugh. Considering their stand on flipping Third Man items I can’t help but think these ebay postings are not meant to be serious at all – but rather a sarcastic statement to ebay flipping in general.
Nick Drake was/is one of the most influential artists in my life and in the lives of many musicians and songwriters I respect. Such beautiful music from such a tortured soul. Whatever the state of that record I am glad we can at least discuss music as a community and share influences. @Quizze@PhilipGrattan – Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw the condition of this record makes it a piece of junk. But I guess one person’s piece of junk is another man’s treasure. If I would have gotten a record in this condition I would have demanded my money back. I think maybe this post was intended to be Third Man’s sarcastic sense of humor? IDK. But after seeing this I would rather spend 30K on the Guinea Pig in chain mail that they posted the month. Or the Icky Thump mice or the Jack White/White Stripes dolls below.

The recent Universal reissues of the Nick Drake albums are from the original tapes an all analog. I have them, but have yet to listen to Five Leaves Left. But anyway, if the Pink Moon reissue is any indication, Five Leaves Left should sound amazing. The new pressing of Pink Moon is one of the finest pressings I’ve ever heard. So if you can’t afford an old copy of Five Leaves Left that looks like a frisbee, don’t fret.

If you try to look up nick drake on pandora you get nicki minaj….. are we still talking about music at that point???… maybe we should talk pink moons and yellow stars just to get a better gfasp of the content……For the record I just want to say that Nick Drake’s guitar compositions take me to places far beyond the bristish domain… love them
