What can I say? I feel the same way about this record as I did about “Consolers of the Lonely” when it came out eleven years ago. Working in a medium that is so easily rehashed, bloated, signified and “old”, the Raconteurs distill the most classic essence of rock and roll into a new, compelling and progressive form.
If I’ve learned anything from the lead-up campaign to this album, it’s how MANY people favor the Racs as their preferred Jack White vehicle. Weirdly, some peeps just can’t get on board with the Stripes because of the lack of bass, simplified drumming, matching outfits or whatever. I don’t understand it, but I acknowledge it. And in the ten years at Third Man…the Racs have primarily been relegated to reissues and live Vault releases…we’ve not previously experienced the wallop that a new studio album from them brings.
But wallop it does and live, it’s even stronger. I’m very, very excited to see where this journey takes us.
Also…just post some shit in the comments. Whatever you want. I’ll let my daughter Violet scroll through and pick a name at random and that person will get a test pressing of “Help Us Stranger”

I love that Violet ? is taking part in this effort! I had the coolest dad and I loved helping him at work as a kid. As for “favorites,” I love it all! Not everyone connects to every sound, and I didn’t expect to love it all so much. But here I am, stretching my heart ? to make room for this new album. I loved hearing it digitally at midnight, loved hearing my magical vault version on the turntable, and loved listening to it on a loop for three hours in the car. It’s been a beautiful day! ???

I was born in 1972. With all the Awesome music out there. I came to find The White Stripes around the release of Seven Nation Army in 2003. Love love love that tune. And my FAVORITE Stripes tune is Ball And Biscuit. Then years…… Later they broke up. Sad and mad, I said "I’ll never support Jack again! Then one day back in early “2014” I was scrolling through the internet and saw Jack White at Stage AE in Pittsburgh PA. I had to go! (I live close to Pittsburgh) July 27 2014 went to one of the best concerts ever. A little over an hour in it started raining like cats and dogs. But it ended and here I am again going back to Stage AE on August 13. Peace guys and good luck
