Rollingchild
“Feeling” b/w “Wear It On Your Sleeve”
scums stats: lathe-cut limited edition of 25 copies
Just arrived in the mail today, straight from the artist himself and I am stoked.
“Feeling” has been stuck in my head for quite some time. Months. Sounding so familiar, so true, as if it has always just been there.
The string section arrangement, whether that’s real instruments or keyboard midi or what…it’s so beautifully evocative. Quite reminiscent of the work Jean-Claude Vannier did for Serge Gainsbourg. Lush and NOT in the same way as that fancy soap store at the mall.
“Feeling” is also the impetus of a new playlist I’ve been compiling titled “Songs to Use If I Ever Have to Make a Movie” so yes, I feel like it has cinematic sweeps to it. Dramatically. The kind of sounds that will really convey…feeling. As if there’s something special going on here, that I can’t exactly put my finger on as to WHY it is so, but is is so very…so.
Apparently these lathe-cuts were only sold at a show a few months back here in Nashville and life prevented me from showing up. Recent connecting with Rollingchild (his mom knows him as Michael Bostinto) had him dig up a spare copy for me. I’m lucky. This shit isn’t even on Discogs (I’ll fix that shortly).
Also included in that package is an LP copy of his new album, “Post Party Depression” which I already bought a copy of, so I pass the savings on to you.
Post a comment below, just make it something interesting. WITH FEELING. The best comment by January 17th, as determined solely by me, will get this still-sealed slab of wax mailed directly to the address of their choosing.
Hey Man..I joined the vault for the quarterly deliveries but must say that the best thing I’ve gotten out of it yet has to be the introduction to Rollingchild…amazing throwback voice and composition..the song breaks and the drums make me wanna keep listening..the lyrics are meaningful..the kid is a cool story…it listens like an soundtrack from a Tarantino movie…Feelings is the icing on a great cake. Thank you again for new listening pleasure!! I’m a Fan!

and with the leadbelly cover to close it out.
it’s still January 17th
something interesting. . .and with feeling. There was a time when the white stripes played two nights at the Orpheum in 2005 and somehow I didn’t hear about it and the night of one of the shows I was at an outdoor Concert festival in neighboring Wisconsin that Jack Johnson was headlining and all of a sudden he rips into a cover of Little Ghost and I’m like that is pretty badass, didn’t see that coming, and then I overhear the dude standing next to me say, I tried to get tickets for that show but couldn’t, and I had to ask what the hell he was talking about and that was one of the saddest moments of my life.
I just wanna scream…
H E L L O !!
the instrumthe instrumentation sounds like if Ennio Morricone did a James Bond score
@jackie. I don’t, but what a gift. Read Oliver Sacks book, Musicophilia, if you haven’t. I do know there are many subtypes. Jack has a song about misophonia, which is a subtype. I have seen other types manifest with amputees and Autism. I could write pages, but I’ll stop. The brain is an amazing little organ. ? ?
Random question…Has White Blood Cells been released as a vault item yet?
I am blessed to see music in colors, this is called synesthesia, the soul and vibration of this song presented in throbbing shades of orange. I am interested in how many others in the group experience this when listening to music.
The song Feeling lifts, and does not let you down as the music pulls you along into a clear warm space. Rollingchild’s song is full of vulnerable meaning yet the tones sooth you into listening to every word. A welcomed piece of poetic artistry that tames our chaotic world.
The best
The word “essentially” is overused by people trying to sound smarter and often isn’t needed in the sentence!
