“Ah Yes”

scum stats: limited to 100 hand-numbered copies

Served up fresh from Milwaukee mainstay Chris Schulist, three copies landed here at Third Man. Chris ain’t even involved in the release at all, just truly believes in sharing the power of rock and roll.

And it is powerful indeed. Mudhoney with slightly stoner vibes, lyrics only when absolutely necessary, not afraid to explore upon an extended instrumental section. You should dig this too. Much respect for going through the entire rigamarole of putting out an LP and capping it at 100 copies. That’s a ballsy move here but it works.

Swank grabbed one and I’m giving away the third copy here based on comments. Relay your best story that somehow incorporates the phrase “Ah yes.”

Winner chosen by me, so make it snappy.

The first time I picked up a guitar “Ah Yes”, the first time I picked up a blunt “Ah Yes”. The first time I heard true rock n’ roll “Ah Yessss”

So a couple years ago, on a hot summer day, I saw Danny Brown hanging out downtown the afternoon before his show. My group gave him a what’s up and kept it moving. Then I paused, turned around, and re-approached him. Danny looked really confused that I was coming back up to him. I held out my hand and dapped him up. I had an adderall in my hand. The “Adderall Admiral” went from confused to delighted and let out a “Ah yes!”. Seems like a good guy. Good show as well. True story

I have a good old truck from the previous century, about to flip the 200k mark. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. I make cassettes to play in it, from vinyl, cd’s, etc. My daughter gets to digging around in the glove box, hunting a new tape to play while I drive. Yesterday she slipped in Icky Thump without a word, and at the first few beats I felt a warm “Ah Yes” wash over me as she reached to turn it up.

Ah yes, I remember now I am bad at story telling, so the end

I said oh no, but she said ah yes. Go figure.

…and then she said, “will you walk with me into the darkness of the night”? …and I said ‘ah yes’. So we did, never to return to the light of day.

David de la Torre

When Icky Trump became president, me: “Ah… yes?”
