Taylor Swift
1989
a billion copies, i'm sure of it
I'm slammed today, had to run home to help watch the girls and realize I did not do a write-up for ROW yet.
So I let Violet pick.
"Any record in the house Violet...you pick it and I'll write about it."
She goes straight to her jam. Between this and requests for Big Sean's "Bounce Back" and "Dance" from the Trolls soundtrack and (oddly) the Flaming Lips "She Don't Use Jelly", Violet has not veered too far from Swift's "1989" in the past 8 months or so.
I bought it for her on vinyl after she had a hard day at pre-K earlier this year. I'm such a sap.
I guess I've heard all the songs on this LP, but really, for V it begins and ends with "Welcome to New York." Intro'd to this family as the opening music for "The Secret Life of Pets", I've probably listened to this song no less than 150 times this year. I sing it to her, I pull up live versions on YouTube. I am a sap...if she loves something I can learn to love it myself.
A distant second is "Shake It Off" of which Violet appears to be more of a fan of the video than the song itself. I guess I don't mind it all in the grand scheme of things. If I've learned anything, it's that Taylor Swift music, from my perspective, seems to be made specifically for four year old girls. And I'm completely ok with that.
V still doesn't have a steady enough hand to drop the needle on this one, so it's already shredded. I doubt the White Stripes-branded Crosley helps the situation. Maybe she'll get a Manny under the tree this year.
And in the time it took me to write the last paragraph, V opened the dish washer, used that to climb on top of the kitchen counter, set the microwave for god-knows how long (50:35 when I found it) with nothing in it and was fist deep in a package of gummi bears.
I've clearly got my hands full.
Hey Ben…. ever think about organizing a Nashville Homegrown Festival that encourages Electric, Electronic, and Organic which might spread out from hardcore to hymnal features over a weeks time as a way to pitchblend the locals on TMR ? Class of 2018? …. just tossin a few ideas around in the in-between moments here… back to the periodic table for me now… cheers and happy new years!!!
Love!
Yay for gummibears!!!
Cool!!
Cool!!
hey blackwell…. can you review a Laughing Hyenas release for our pals here in the vault… i am all holiday lit up over this announcement that TMR is gonna share the love on this…. ya!!!!
My 4 girls crush the entire catalog, Red and Fearless are superior in my kids opinion, the 12 year old is particularly fond of the newest, me not so much.
Yeah, I have that one too. I love it. Her new record is a picture disk, I think. I almost bought it at Barnes and Noble the other night, but it was $40. I’ll have to wait a little while.
love me some Bad Blood
I like that one too Violet <3
