Giorgio and the Morodians
Bla-Bla-Diddly
I first heard this one maybe 15 years ago and it always kinda stuck with me in the back of my head. At the time I was not aware of the fact that it was seemingly the second single released by Giorgio Moroder, who'd later become world renowned for his work on Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and that one spoken word track on Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories."
In some weird alternate universe, it feels like this song could just as easily be written by the Monks. Especially the "In this crazy world today..." change...that sounds STRAIGHT out of Gary Burger's mouth. I mean shit, Germany 1966 did EVERYTHING have these touchstones? We may never know, or I may just be too lazy to explore much further.
This record is an earworm to the nth degree so do proceed with caution. Excitingly, it's also wicked cheap to pick up a copy. Also, this particular picture sleeve is kinda punk...the ripped paper esthetic seeming quite forward thinking for '66. And straight into my DJ box it goes.
well isn’t that super groovy fun
Hell of a name!!!!
slowed down/ found solutions/ it’s possibly/ true/ it’s you/ past is/now a refrain/ you don’t have to burn down the house to change/ thoughts/ like there in a blender/ gotta get to the center/ crisscrossing/ space/ time/ bodies aligned/ nows a time/ coming to a head near you.
I did not know he was the force behind “I Feel Love.” Showing my age here, but when I heard that song on the radio as a kid when it came out, it sounded like nothing I’d ever heard. I still love it.
My first knowledge of Giorgio Moroder was from his edit and scoring of Metropolis. A very ambition attempt to bring a silent epic into the then-modern world of 1984.
This sounds like it could have come from Kim Fowley. I don’t mean that in a bad way. But speaking of diddly how bout Bo one of my fav lps is Black Gladiator one of the few rock n roll records too make me laugh out loud check out “I don’t like you” . You look like a million bucks. Just a great record all the way around. The absolute best live lp imo is Lou Reed’s /rock and roll animal. It’s all about the band’s performance/ not about Lou. I admit I would be in air guitar heaven listening to this. I bring this record up because it’s been on heavy rotation/ no air guitar though /now it’s air bass/ just an amazing band Mr.Reed put together/ hear the intro to sweet jane/ the bass on rockin roll. The song lou really stands out is/ heroin. Other lps spinning round round are Menomena “Moms”/Sleater Kinney “the woods”/Jim Capaldi "Fierce Heart.
