It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans.
Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects.
Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled.
We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.
UPDATE: The coroner has determined that Ikey Owens died from a heart attack the morning of October 14th at approximately 4 am. Ikey, born Isaiah Randolph Owens was a GRAMMY award winning artist best known for his work with Jack White, the Mars Volta, De Facto and Free Moral Agents, among others. He was a beloved member of the music community as well as his hometown of Long Beach, CA.

What a loss. I have many great memories of Ikey playing with Jack (5 times). My favorite is last year in Portland jack walks up to Ikey on stage and tells him “love interruption” then walks away. Ikey yells “what?” a few times but Jack doesn’t hear. Jack waits then looks confused when no keys start. Jack starts playing opening chords of “Love Interruption” and Ikey smiles and immediately joins him. Ikey may be gone but I will never forget the magical nights we spent together. What a talent, the world will miss him.
He was my favorite guy of the backing band. I will miss him on the next show for sure…
I was thinking what a great tribute to Ikey with his incredible keyboard skills on display Jack’s Bonnaroo concert DVD will be.
So sad :(
@JOSE LUIS ACEVES I know how you feel, I missed the Mexico tour: Guadalajara and Monterrey. It’s horrible what happened, it’ll be difficult to recover from this lost. My heart goes with the band and Ikey’s family, his music will live in our hearts. Mexico will be open arms whenever you’re ready guys
God bless his family. I was in the Corona Capital but missed the presentation(Electric storm) since i had bought tickets to catch Jack White again on my hometown, Guadalajara, MX. So i missed 2 shows and i feel very frustrated. I hope Jack get back on his feet soon and fill the world again with the joy and energy he fills the stage with. Mexico loves you Mr. White, come back soon!!
To Ikey !
The world has lost a great man !
Between terrestrial life and celeste life, you broke the so delicate thread !
You have pierced the heavens !
Now you’re amoung shiny stars, blue sea and the live rock !
But your melodies continue to steer our hearts for ever !
Through the air, blowing us the courage !
To stay serene in front of our destinies !
