Third Man Records is pleased to share the genius surprise gift they received from their friend MICHEL GONDRY. On his own and without anyone's knowledge, the legendary filmmaker shot a video for "City Lights," which he sent them the other night. The video is Gondry's fifth visual collaboration with The White Stripes. "City Lights" was written for The White Stripes' GET BEHIND ME SATAN but then forgotten until White revisited the 2005 album for Third Man's Record Store Day 2015 vinyl reissue and finished the recording in 2016. The track is the first new, worldwide commercially released song by The White Stripes since 2008.
“City Lights” available on The White Stripes from the new compilation album Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 out NOW. Purchase the essential Jack White songwriting collection now: http://smarturl.it/jwacoustic
Cool concept video!
What a creative mind. Beautiful to see his mind working in real time. What a lovely touching gift for The White Stripes.
A new song from a ghost band, there and it’s gone
This is amazing!!
Beautifully done. Absolutely mesmerizing…Thank you for the sneak peek.
Awesome
So much of this is right on the mark…. The element of touch makes it so personal…. The delicate rivulets of water match the instrumrntation… The very spontaneous creation of emotion…. Mr. Gondry has found a way to honor something that we all love so much in such a personal way that it is worthy of some kind of artistic merit award but instead he canonized it in the name of friendship as a gift that we all will cherish…i keep watching it over and over just to enjoy the effects that Izzy was talking about…. Good call on the layering as story telling with the water paralleling the music and impermanence of emotion set of ideas Izzy……………………………..THANK YOU MR. GONDRY!!!!!………………………….
Beautiful
