THE DEAD WEATHER PREMIERE SECOND OF FOUR TECHNIQUE AND INSTRUMENT DISCUSSION VIDEOS

EPISODE 2:

"BASS TECHNIQUE AND DISCUSSION WITH DEAD WEATHER BASSIST JACK LAWRENCE"
DIRECTED BY JACK WHITE

LIVE NOW ON MOJO

The Dead Weather have released the second of four technique and instrument-based videos. In this second episode, bass deconstructionist, Jack Lawrence, reveals the secrets of how he achieves his distinct bottom end sound for The Dead Weather. Lawrence demonstrates some of his most head nodding bass lines and leaves no question that without the bass, there would be no Dead Weather. The video, directed by Jack White, concludes with an incendiary live performance of "Mile Markers" from the new album Dodge And Burn. Each band members' technique videos showcases a different song from the band’s career, including tracks from their forthcoming album Dodge and Burn (out September 25th). Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the remaining two videos of the series from The Dead Weather and Third Man Records.

This song is so much fun. CAN’T WAIT.

@Koala: Dunno how widespread it is, but at least between me and a few friends there’s a strong (somewhat facetious) suspicion that Little Jack, aka Legion of Doom, practices voodoo. For an example beyond his playing ability and general air of mystery, watch the video of the band performing No Hassle Night/I Just Want To Make Love To You in 2009. The only instrument that big Jack doesn’t perform with during that song is bass guitar. Coincidence? He just didn’t feel like it? Or… LJ had his mojo workin’ on that corner of the stage? You decide.

I’m loving this series of videos. The sort of “behind the veil” peak at how your craft your sound, really cool. The clip at 1:30 and Jack’s follow up question made me laugh pretty hard.

DAMN!

Laughing out loud in an empty house is fun, especially when followed by ROCKING out in an empty house. Fuck yeah, Mile Markers. And FUCK YES, LJ!!!
