yes it is..THE Vault package. This package changed my perception of what great music can sound like.. I always loved Zappa mostly seventies stuff and Bongo Fury was the only thing Ive ever heard from CB… but not trout mask replica is spinning for about ten days at least once a day and what can I say? The Van Fleet is an ARTIST with capital letters. just noticed now that TROUT MASK REPLICA initials are TMR.. just like Third Man Records.. Coincidence? I think not.
PLEASE. No more. I’m sure this pleases a lot of people but this isn’t a VAULT package.
For those unfamiliar with The Captain this is the least accessible LP his most famous but the novice to Beefheart will not enjoy it. Safe as Milk is your SAFE bet (no pun intended) for us Beefheart lover’s this is a dream come true, the last re-issue of this LP was muddled so this is fantastic and easily one of the best Vault Issues ever. This is truly fantastic. An exceptional event that won’t come around again. Unless we can get SAFE AS MILK with the long lost sticker :) Thank you Jack, Blackwell & Company for a fantastic job … well done !!!! Try topping this one :)
It is a nice looking package. I was not familiar with these guys before receiving this vault package. I would not check out any of their other music, this album is not enjoyable in the least bit. I have no idea what they were trying to do here but I am not a fan.
I’ve received my Trout Mask package in the UK and am overjoyed! Been a Beefheart fan since I heard John Peel play Yellow Bick Road around 86.Never owned TMR though.Thank you TMR!
Got the package yesterday and listened to it yesterday. My first impression is this is a bunch of dudes still learning how to play their instruments and no knowledge of how to construct a melody. Dreadful! But I will attempt to warm up to it with a few more listens. Nice looking package!
Just received the TMR package which is stunning.The sound quality is superb, revealing the music in all its complex glory. I can’t imagine any other TMR release (although I doubt there will be one) surpassing this. Many thanks from a 45-year-long Beefheart fan. Now what about Decals and Spotlight Kid :-)
