We lost a member of the family this weekend who brought a lot of color to the Third Man world. Art Tidwell was a painter who (along with his wife Tonya) is responsible for making so many of our spaces the signature Third Man yellow we've all come to expect, both in Nashville and Detroit — not a small task, by any means. All our love goes out to Tonya and Art's family, who could really use additional support at the moment to secure Art's final resting place and to help make the transition a little easier. So many of you have appreciated the care and craftsmanship that goes into our spaces —if you're at Third Man, you're standing among many creations Art and Tonya brought to life — so if you feel like helping out the family that helped make us who we are, we are collecting donations here. We know the entire Tidwell family would be beyond grateful for some Third Man fans to show their love and support since he brought so much to our Universe.

Done. Would be hard to go back to either Nashville or Cass Corridor and soak in those sunny yellow vibes without offering condolences and some support to Mr. Tidwell’s family. It sounds like he was a hell of a person, the sort we need more of in this world, not less.
Very sad…. Looks like a bunch of kids will really miss their dad… Maybe a Go Fund Me account for their education would be a kind gesture???
