POKEY ON LETTERMAN

In case you missed Mr. LaFarge and his travelling band of St. Louis musos last night on The Late Show w/ David Letterman, here is the performance in full.

Pokey and the gang killed it. A really fantastic late night debut!

Dave really seemed to dig it... sounds like he'll be going on the road with the band and driving the van...why not?

I saw him at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on the 17th. It was an amazing show! He handed me the set list while he was on stage and I got to talk to him for a while and some of the other members of the band afterward. He was lovely, the show was lovely, it was all around lovely.

Great performance! Letterman was very kind. I’m going to see Pokey for the first time in Ann Arbor next week. I’m really looking forward to it.

Missed the Letterman show so thanks so much for adding this video to the Vault….brings back memories of seeing Pokey and his band in TMR’s Blue Room playing that song and singing along. Love that Dave Letterman loves the band too. I wonder if Dave has ever said that he wanted to go on tour with any other band on his show before…be interesting to know.

Saw Pokey in Asheville this past Friday a few days before the Letterman performance. What I was most impressed with was his confidence and command of the stage which is something you can’t fake in a small venue. When you watch this video notice as he begins you are watching a man achieving what he has worked very hard for over a period of many years. Think about all of the emotion that goes into a moment like that…What put a smile on my face was watching that confidence build over the span of the Letterman performance into what I saw in Asheville. I think this guy and his band are going to be characters in the great American songbook. Very inspirational!

They were great, as is the horn section addition. Can’t wait to see Pokey adding to his orchestra piece by piece as the years go by. Congratulations!

I love, love, love this ensemble. I’ve seen them live twice already, and have been in love with their stuff since I first heard “La La Blues.” Cannot wait for them to come back to ATL.
