Peripheral Visions 01: The Gravy Train

Peripheral Visions 01: The Gravy Train

Come join us for the inaugural screening of Peripheral Visions. This is the first of an ongoing cult-film series co-sponsored by the currently hibernating Belcourt Theatre. This new series will take place on the first Tuesday of every month, and we're starting it off with a showing of The Dion Bothers AKA The Gravy Train.

From The Nashville Scene:

"[The Gravy Train is] the collaboration of two seemingly incompatible sensibilities: the late director Jack Starrett, an exploitation master who's just getting his due for nifty genre pictures such as Slaughter and Race with the Devil; and none other than Terrence Malick, who co-wrote the script under a pseudonym with Bill Kerby (The Rose). Malick's superlative debut Badlands has the lyrical theoretical/dialectical bent that's characterized his work increasingly since 1978's Days of Heaven on up through The Tree of Life and the upcoming Knight of Cups. But it also displays a gift for twangy vernacular dialogue and pulpy material that shows his career could've gone a completely different direction had he chosen."

The screening starts at 8pm, and doors are at 7pm. $10. Tickets and more information available HERE.

This was a great start to the Peripheral Visions series. Thanks out to Jack Flailing White for having us over for movie night while the Belcourt is down!
